1st wash after the ceramic coating I did 2 weeks ago. So easy to clean, and nice and shiny (No QD or any photo enhancing done)

Curious how much your ceramic coating cost. I was looking up services in Toronto over the weekend and i am seeing prices $1000+!

Well, as it is quite labour (labor) intensive, can be pricey, but this one I did myself for the 1st time ever.

If you are handy with a DA polisher (not difficult), you correct with DA, then panel wipe, and apply ceramic.

Some are professional only application that need heat lamps etc, but I used Gyeon Q2 Pure, that was really easy to apply and then wipe off with M/F and is a single coat application.

Took me about 2-3 days, including full decon wash and clean (told dealer not to do anything to car), single stage correction with DA, Chemical Guys Quantum Green pads, and Sonax Profiline Perfectfinish Single stage, and then the coating and left overnight in garage.

The Pure 30ml kit (plenty for X3) cost me about £50 ($62)

The more I see carbon black the more I like it. Yours really does look stunning.

Loving the mats and really wish I could find £200 down the back of the sofa to buy some. I may have to treat myself but it'll take some convincing.

I was going to ask what pads you used and then I was surprised to see they were green's. I wouldn't have thought of those as I thought they may be too harsh and need further refining, how wrong was I..!

Thanks Craig. The mats are very nice. Green is heavy cut, but not really that heavy compared to say microfibre pads. I am a BIG fan of Sonax Profiline Perfect Finish. I used it for the 1st time on my Q5 when I coated the bonnet a month before selling 😂

Started noticing (1st heard last week) getting a really odd "chirping/squeak" from the outside, and sounds to be coming from driver's side.

I searched the forum and the nearest I could find was this from edgarchieng :

Edgar's fix appears to have been:

"I asked for what exactly was the problem and they told me it was apparently a "dust cover on the front diff seal" which spins every now and then causing the noise, so what they did was to fix (or glue) it in place so it doesn't spin anymore "

So for any of you out there who has this problem, this could be the answer.

My car is now booked in for 22nd July for a week, there are a few other minor things, such as sunroof rattle and boot/roof rubber trim to look at.

I will obviously mention the above "fix" but also hopefully have my own video of the noise. (May use a gopro mounted externally to get it)

I will try and get my own video and post here.

Car is only 450 miles (UK) old.

My son said he could hear it as we drove off from the bus stop after dropping him off.
So head turning for the wrong reasons!

Early morning wash, coat of WetCoat and topped off with CarPro Reload. Tyres coated with Gyeon Tire Express.

I LOVE Carbon Black, and being ceramic coated makes cleaning a doddle...just needs a lot of it

That looks great Nev - makes me glad I picked that colour and wheel combination too. The only visual difference between yours and mine with be the black shadow line trim I have on my grills etc.

I do think yours will look amazing with the shadow line. I do quite like the cerium, but if I had a choice would do that. Do t really want to go and swap all the bits out, have spent enough on this thing 😬

Winter wheels (Autec Kitano) shod with Conti Winter Contact TS860, and ceramic coated with GTechniq C5 Wheel Armour.

Will get them fitted next week after curing.
