Bad timing! I almost ordered the X3M because of the seats but went with the M40 as I didn't really need the extra power etc. and $10k is a lot for seats. I ordered 1 week ago and now I could have got the seats on the M40

Honestly, I'd approach your dealer and try to reorder your car. The seats, in my opinion, are the worst part of the G01 X3.

Here is one who has understood everything! Welcome to your series 7! That's the car ... Congratulations
Just did the opposite last month with our 750i. Couldn't wait to get back to a smaller, nimbler more engaging driver. Loved the 7 for long highway trips and hauling multiple adults, but wasn't much fun to drive.

Just cancel the order. If only a week, it hasn't moved into the production queue.

Agree 100% - love my M40i but the seats are disappointing for sure.

Love the non-ventilated seats in our 18 M40i.

According to https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=901686 X3 gets Live Cockpit and ID7 starting April 2020.

The new Drive Recorder option requires ID7. Since BMW hasn't added the X3 to the list for Summer 2019, it seems to confirm no ID7 for Summer 2019.

Aside from the Drive Recorder and Backup Assistant, ID7 isn't all that loved of an update. Maybe one day BMW will add Android Auto which will be very welcome!

I have order in 8 days ago. It’s in production. Dealer is ok with me canceling and reordering when options are out.

Seats are big deal for me.
  • Extra sport always nice (though M40i ok)
  • Love color options
  • Love extended leather option
  • Love you can now get venting/ cooling with them

Would love full active dash and iDrive 7 too. We’ll see.

Frankly, I would have done the X3M just for seats if it had a tow package.

Pricing aside, I think the X3 in its current production is as perfect as a vehicle can be. Looking at the order guide, can't say the X3 is really missing anything. In a perfect world, I would keep the current full digital speedometer and have iDrive 7.

April 2020 is for the X3M/X4M. The regular X3/X4 should be getting ID7 by this Fall together with the G30.

It's in the link that you gave. It's scattered in the first page and put in different month updates (August 2018 and March 2019).

I think the updates in August are great.

x3 M40
x4 M40

both are getting more HP and a different B58 engine (o1) - same as M340 has
382HP (which feels more like 400HP), plus
Live cockpit and I drive 7 with some new tech plus
New seats and some colors

In my book it is a major upgrade (more than some LCIs) and is worth waiting for/ canceling you current order.
Unless you are getting 20% off the current x3 M40 I would wait

I’ve been eyeballing the X3M just for the seats, but at this rate the m40i with new seats might be the sweet spot for the price.

When will we be able to see what the seats look like?

Am I missing something here?

You can already spec individual paint, extended Merino leather and 21” Individual alloys on the BMW UK configurator, as well as the Piano Black trim.

We don't have any of that in the US. Canada also has all black trim options which we don't get either.

It had me confused because the article mentions the M40d and I didn’t think that engine was offered Stateside?
