Where is my X3 (UK)
I'm hoping you all knowledgable ppl can shed some light and help me find out where about my car is.
My X3 M40i was built on 20/05 along with my cousins X3 M40i, both cars has the same spec only difference is exterior colour. Ordered from the same dealer on the same day. His last 7 digits of VIN is two ahead of mine, his ends in 90 mine 92. Both were at 9000 (Departed Plant) on the same day, receiving emails around the same time. I've looked at the schedule for Wallenius Wilhelmsen and one left Charleston on 20/05 (Honor) reaching Southampton on 10/06, thinking our cars would never make that ship, the next one would be 26/05 (Freedom) reaching Southampton on 18/06. However, my cousin was 9620 (At sea) on the 11/06 and 9630 (Port of entry) on the 12/06 with his car ready for collection on 25/06. The status dates doesn't quite match up with the Honor schedule, but I can only assume the BMW system is delayed. However mine is still stuck on 9000 and now slipped back to near end of July for delivery. Does this sound unusual? I would off thought BMW logistic partners would have some sort of order in loading cars onto ships, if so then surely mine would be on the same one if not then the next ship. BMW Genius can't tell me anymore than it's at 9000, my dealer the same. Freedom docked at Bremerhaven on 14/06 around 10pm, so if my car was on that ship wouldn't the status be 9610 (Port of Exit) by now? I know it's probably just a guessing game and to be honest I wouldn't of paid much attention to it if my cousins car was on the same status, but because his one is already in the UK, I'm getting a bit frustrated especially being so far behind. My guess that as soon as it changes to 9610 the delivery will be pulled in but at the moment it's still at 9000 and I can only see the delivery date being pushed back come tomorrow (start of new week still on 9000). In summary can someone help with the following Do they unload all cars and reload them all again onto another ship at Bremerhaven? For X3's heading to UK from USA, does status remain on 9000 until reaching Bremerhaven which will then change to 9610 and 9620 when leaving Bremerhaven? How long does the BMW status take to change to reflect the true status? My cousins car was dated 11/06 for 9620 and 12/06 for Port of Entry, I can't find any ships that leaves Bremerhaven on 11/06 and arrives at Southampton on 12/06. Should I just take a back seat and give up on all this? But how else am I meant to pass the time? Thanks for your help in advance |

I wouldn't bother tracking the ship. I was glued to the ship tracker every day looking at progress until it arrived in Southampton. But after arriving in country it has taken another three weeks to get to the dealer with no additional info available.
I finally pick mine up on Monday 17th (arrived in port on 22/05). Fill in the time by browsing the forum and looking at pics and video reviews. |

Noob question - I did think the X3 was built in South Africa, is it in fact the US?

I believe the diesels are made in South Africa.
I wouldn’t be too hung up on where it’s built. The 3 series was built at Rosslyn for years, so they know how to bolt a car together. |

Unless there's some individual options, I think that's why mine was built in Spartanburg.

Yes, it seems to be off the configurator currently, maybe just because they're updating things.

Woohoo, mines now at Port of Exit. So it was on Freedom! Now need to see if it stayed on Freedom or off loaded at Bremerhaven and waiting for another ship.
