While doing research about the X3, I was quoted 192/month for the M40i and 177/month for the xDrive30i here in Seattle, WA from State Farm with 1000 deductible. 31 year old male.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting manhandled here, but anywhere else I ask for a quote is higher . I was involved in an accident in 2016 and my car was broken into in 2017 yet I still have their good driver discount. Not sure what gives.

Got any recommendations?

It's the only car on my policy, I'm not a homeowner, and I'm single. I can't imagine all that is the reason why my rates suck ass. I currently pay 170/month for my 2013 Audi A4

If you're a Costco member I highly recommend going through their partnership with Amerprise.

For once it sounds like we in the UK dont get such a bad deal. £340 a year for a 30D Fully Comp, Legal Protection, 12k miles a year, myself and wife named drivers.

I had similar experience, I dumped State Farm after being with them for 22 years. I moved to Progressive and am now saving a ton of money.

Your premium is only half of it. Where the shit hits the fan is how they handle your claim when you eventually file one. Some insurance companies treat you well, and some pretend not to know you. Geico and Progressive may have some of the lowest premiums, but they are the absolute WORST come claim time.

I'm £272 for a year fully comp for my 30D, 8k a year with the wife on it too. Cost me an extra £40 switching from my golf r estate.

Maybe we don't get such a bad deal here after all!

I was amazed as mine actually went down this year - although last year it came with a £100 Debenhams gift card so was technically only £250. All about to change though after making a claim for being hit by a Slovakian HGV. Waiting now to find out the repair bill - hoping its written off so my gap insurance kicks in. But either way my premium is gonna be going up

What are the yearly road taxes that people are paying for their X3 around the world?
I pay for my 20d in Belgium 510 EUR per year.
If i had a 30d that would be 1200 EUR per year.
Driving a M40i would cost me 860 EUR per year.

In my state and county, $324 for the first two years, $150 for year two-year renewal. That's apart from state gasoline tax per gallon.

By road taxes, I assume you mean what would translate to vehicle registration fees here in the US? Here in Arizona it is based off a formula using the value of the vehicle. I believe my first year registration cost was close to $800 or so.

In the UK they changed it recently. First year rate is based on emissions / RDE2 compliance so would be £855 (20d might be less) and rolled into purchase price. Years 2-6 its £145 for Petrol & Diesel cars but they whack another £320 on if the list price was £40,000 or higher meaning a total of £465 per year. Still it sounds better than belgium - how can 30d be more than double the rate of 20d?

In Belgium the calculation is based on engine size, type of fuel, power output and emissions. The Belgian government started a diesel is from hell policy a couple of years ago since like 85% of the people in BE where driving diesels and it was thus a great way to claim extra tax money out of our pockets by changing the tax system to penalise diesels.
When you buy the car we also need to pay a onetime registration fee on top of the annual tax fee. For my 20d this was 1000 EUR. For a 30d this is 1800 EUR.

People paying sub $100/mo in the US... Do you have multiple cars and property insurance discounts because to be honest that seems quite low. In NYC I have every discount imaginable with 5 year good driver and defensive course and have a spot clean record, but my rate is still far more than that. I have GEICO.. Ugh..

My X40i is 67/mth. We have 2 cars with Esurance, and a handful of safety discounts but nothing else. This is in FL where uninsured motorists are everywhere, and I have 100/300, uninsured, rental reimbursement, etc.

Im in Los Angeles - my 30i is $116/month with Wawanesa.

I'm moving to Vegas end of month - same car is $130/month Geico.

I will still check with Costco/Ameriprise to see what rate I can get.

Something to keep in mind, in the US, if the state you live in has a high uninsured/underinsured percentage, then your premiums will be much higher.

Problem there is just about every single state has a high % of uninsured/under insured operators.

Some states are worse, such as here in AZ. Lots of undocumented people who don't have insurance to add into the mix of those that normally choose not to carry insurance.
