Wheel Trim... Anyone changed it?

Has anyone changed the trim on the steering wheel? Seen the M Performance wheel fitted to a couple but not just the trim.

I purchased and installed the CF trim and paddles from RG Sport and it looks just like his pics.

You do not need to remove the steering wheel as noted. Once the paddles are off, you can access the 3 screws holding the trim in place. You will however need a smaller torx T6 (IIRC) to move the buttons and switches.

Thanks. That looks good. Are you happy with the quality?

So, to confirm - no need to remove entire steering wheel? But have to remove airbag?

Very happy with the quality, paddles are solid...heavier than I thought, but solid.

Correct, you do not need to remove the wheel. Seems overkill IMO...and my torque wrench was at the office, so I couldnt get the leverage to break the nut loose. After installing the paddles I went to remove the wheel and since I couldnt, I realized the bolts for the trim were accessible with the paddles off. Its just one screw for each paddle, so I simply removed them and went to work on the trim.

Yes, you would have to remove the airbag for either install. Very easy to do and disconnect the negative battery terminal first.

I know this is not an X3 M but this steering wheel trim is for the The G series/F series M sport steering wheels and M wheels. BMW OEM M Performance part. Also the M Performance Carbon paddles as well. This particular trim is carbon/alcantara. This part just recently became available for the US.
