I literally just stumbled upon the availablity of this on another members build thread. So I'm creating its own thread so it's easier to search and for related questions.
Overall, the items are high quality and 100% perfect fitment, from the c-clip attachments, to the various sensors and PCV hoses, everything fit and lined up like a glove. The aluminium pipe and it's welds were nice and clean on the topside and the inside also. I wanted to do these mods at a minimum before adding the stage 2 MHD tune to it. FTP intake The stock intake has so many redundant intake resonators/chambers which are completely useless (to me), and are most likely just there to keep the intake sound/noise in check. The FTP intake pipe eliminates all these extra plastic chambers, making the airpath much more direct. I would say I did notice a change in the intake sound (with the stock inclosed intake), as I installed this part first it was easier for me to notice this. You can see comparison pics on their website: https://www.ftpmotorsport.com.tw/pro...-intake-pipe-1 Install: 6/10, hardest part is removing the fidly c-clip, and the stock silicon coupler from the lower intake pipe. FTP Chargepipe The only real visual difference I could pick up on the FTP chargepipe, is that it looks wider than stock from the throttle body (upper section of the pipe), the lower chargepipe looks pretty much the same as stock. Other than that, it's also got 2 meth bungs. The entire unit is supposed to mainly promote better throttle response - This was hard for me to gauge as I had just installed the ER downpipe not long ago, and also installed the BMS intake at the same time of this install, so I can't comment on that, but others have report positive throttle response outcomes. Come to think of it, I do 'jump' off the line now, but that may be due to being in sports plus mode more often. Once it's all installed, you can barely see it with the engine cover on. More visible with the cover off. Install: 6/10, hardest part is again the c-clip, the c-clips are different on the intake vs CP, and this one was much harder to pop out. BMS intake Very straight forward, lots of people have had this installed, It came with no instructions and the mounting bracket took me longer than it should to work out, I wasn't able to find a photo of the bracket placement online, so hopefully this helps someone. I love the sound of this on spool up, and especially more so on high load acceleration! Very happy that she' definitely singing at her maximum potential now. Install: 1.5/10, the 0.5 is for not being able to find the bracket mounting straight away or online |

There are several post on here showing how to install the BMS intake.
Just for reference, I conducted a lot of test runs using my Dragy with the stock intake and filter, a drop in filter and the BMS. The stock setup ran faster 0-60 and 1/8 mile runs than the other two systems. The drop in was really close to stock and the BMS was on average 0.23 seconds slower 0-60 and 0.34 slower in the 1/8 mile. It is just sucking in way too much hot air under the hood. It does sound good though. |

I have read your informative posts on the intake, I don't plan to track or run the car down the quarter (competitively, maybe for shits and giggles), I'm also aware intakes are generally an audible mod to satisfy your ears, especially more so on turbo cars. The spool, sucking and release of air is intoxicating (that almost sounded like porn). Do you have a tune btw? Thanks mate, i'd say all up, maybe 2 hours? Alot of that is due to the c-clips as there's abit of 'macguyvering' needed on both c-clips. |

If all I cared about was how fast it went down the quarter, this car would definitely not be the vehicle of choice. |

You could choose to run the intake only in the cooler months if you prefer, it literally won't take more than 5 minutes for a total swap from the BMS to Stock airbox.
I've touched the filter and felt the temperature in the area by hand after a long drive, and both were still cool to the touch. Do you guys have the attached circled part attached to your intake? When I initially installed the BMS intake and fired up the car to make sure everything was running fine, I removed that part, and the heat in the filter area was pretty intense (after only running for 2 mins). I put it back on and the difference it made was pretty significant, so safe to say that it's staying put! |

Try removing it and placing your hand in that area (closer to the intake) and feel how bloody hot it gets there without it. |

Hello All. I've been modding for years. So............ on these types of cars the computer will adjust for minor changes just like your AEM cold air intake on your Blue 99 Civic Si that sounded awesome when that bitch hit VTEC...But actually not as well as that civic. See they are factory tuned for how they come. So i went ahead and got the FTP intake pipe and not the charge pipe because unless I up the HP or get a new turbo I didn't see a need for the charge pipe. I got the intake pipe to basically get rid of the 2 resonator boxes and have a smooth flow. Our cars can deal with that and they can also deal with a panel filter replacement but AFE doesn't have one out yet, So I am still running the stock one but took that extra foam piece off. With a cone filter you will suck in more hot air and You WILL need a tune. They are not bad they just need to be tuned. Same as my WRX - cobb cone filter NEEDED to be tuned.
I would advise on keeping the resonator box in place for the heat shield benefit. Here is what I did with a dremel. Enjoy! |

Very much so, the intake pipe in combination with the BMS filter is just audio bliss to my ears! On hard throttle (with a tune) you hear the blow off flutter - this may not be for everyone, but it only happens under under acceleration and letting off the gas quickly.
I haven't looked back once. |
