just looking at the configurator for the UK and it now says the X3 comes with i drive 7 or BMW os 7, also it comes with 50gb storage for audio files has this always been the case?

Key components of the BMW Live Cockpit Professional with navigation system is the high-resolution instrument display with an impressive screen size of 12.3'' behind the steering wheel and a 12.3'' Control Display with split screen. The BMW Operating System 7.0 with variable, configurable widgets that display information in real time, the iDrive Touch Controller with turn and press function, touch operation on the Control Display. Convenient and intuitive operation options through natural voice control, direct-selection buttons, iDrive Controller, touch operation on the Control Display. The hard drive-supported system includes up to 50GB of memory for audio files, contains two USB ports for charging mobile devices and for transferring data (e.g. media player), as well as a Bluetooth/WiFi interface. Personal user account enables unique identification and authentication of vehicle user with their stored profiles (via key and PIN) where all settings related to the respective person (seat, air conditioning, entertainment, etc.) are adopted together with the profile. Thanks to the BMW Connected App, your BMW and smartphone will become an unbeatable team. With regular map updates and 4G LTE Connectivity, the hard-wired SIM card with 4G network within the vehicle provides information on the go with Intelligent Emergency Call, Teleservices, Online Services (e.g. weather, news). Exclusively available as standard for M Sport, M40i and M40d models.

My guess is that this is still a work in process. I think it's 32GB of storage. Also, the Control Display is 10.25" (often rounded up to 10.3"), not 12.3".

Confirmed today that it is 32Gb drive and the screen (like the new 7 series LCI) will be 12.3" Instrument panel, and 10.25" Control display, but resolution has increased for ID7 to 1920x720 up from 1440x540.

I will list a few things, as I dont know what is standard around the world and what we have standard here. In two of these photos I put in the ID7/Steering Wheel to see what it would look like from the X5.

X3 M40i Standard for us you can see in the spec guide I posted, but we get 21" wheels, Adaptive LED Head and Fog Lights, Cerium Grey accents everywhere, Ambient light, Comfort Access, Parking Assist, Full assist package, Driving Assist Plus and HUD etc, M Sports Steering wheel, Seat heating for front, Harmon/Kardon Sound.

I then choose Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect paint, and the extended Merino Tartufo leather interior with Aluminum Fine Cutting trim.

I added Roller sunblind in rear, seat backrest adjustment for rear seats and seat heating in the back as well.

I added Sunroof, Model deletion and acoustic glazing as well along with 5 years free servicing package. (Only $400 till June 30, well worth it!)

An excellent spec.

I've been waffling between Tartufo and Fiona Red. I've wanted Tartufo for a very long time, but for some reason, I'm feeling Fiona Red for the X model and I can't explain why. It'd go great with your exterior color btw.

One of the reasons that I'm watching this thread so intently is that the Individual merino leathers have not been offered in NA on the 3 or X3 models. BMWNA has been reserving them for the 4/X4. If it stays that way for our MY20s, it'll force me to the X4 rather than my preferred X3.

I just cannot work out why they have such different specs around the world. Our X3 is made in the USA, so they have the material

To be fair, not much sympathy, as you can get the X3M with that leather, and every option for less in AUD $ than I paid for my M40i. $80k USD will get you a fully optioned X3M. Ours is over $120 USD. 50% more!

Canada does have the merino leathers. It seems US is the odd one out, at least until MY20 (fingers crossed)

I promise, I'm not looking for sympathy. I'm well aware of how much we pay for cars compared to the rest of the world. There's a lot of reasons to envy the Aussies. Car prices are not one of them.

I think somewhere in the back of my mind, I realized that. I've always been a bit confused about the level of market integration there is between BMW's Canadian and American arms.

It's been confirmed for Australia and I think that's a very strong sign that we'll get it in North America as well. BMW does some odd things, but I don't think they'd fit a slightly different engine in North American M40's compared to the rest of the world. Of course, we can't be certain of anything until BMWNA tells us officially.

Absolutely here in Australia. It is now listed as 285kw on the spec sheets, up from 265kw. Have a quick look at the spec sheet I posted and it should list that engine change.

I stream everything these days so the storage is meaningless for me. However I wanted to use it on my 3 but the car re-compressed everything to 128kps during transfer. Is that still the case? On the 3 a USB hdd was the better option. Just curious, I'll be using Apple Music and carplay.
