Question Squeaky Driver Seat?

Hi Gang. I'm hoping someone else has experienced and fixed this problem as it is starting to drive me a little nuts.

My driver seat squeaks quite a lot if I put any decent amount of pressure on the seat. Just accelerating and braking is enough to make it happen, along with cornering. It sounds like it is coming from perhaps the underneath/sides of the seat but I can't tell for sure.

Anyone else with a squeaky seat?

(For reference, I have the non-ventilated sport seats in black leather)

Maybe feel around underneath and see if any of the nuts/bolts are loose?

Hello,I have a similar problem a few days now. When I sit on the seat I can feel there is 2-3 mm gap /movement and is not 100% solid as the the front passenger seat is!I am trying to work out if any of the rear nuts have come loose but bo luck...I might take it to the Bmw garage soon,to see what they will say! There is no movement I can feel when am sitting/driving .Is only when I sit down to start the car.

I didn't have the squeak but had the movement when entering the car. Took it to the dealer and they changed the seat frame. Issue seems to have gone away but there is a tiny bit of movement from time to time but nothing that's worth another dealer visit for now.

Thanks guys. I guess a dealer visit seems inevitable. Just hate having to deal with the usual bs there....

Yes. I also now have a squeaky front seat. With braking, accelerating and turning. It does not move though like others have said. I guess a dealers visit too.

My X3 drivers seat has just started squeaking away. I’ve only had the vehicle for 3 months and this will be my 3rd trip to service. Maybe I should have gone Volvo or Audi.

I guess I'm glad I'm not the only one. I haven't had the mental strength to face the service department for mine yet. Soon. I do think I have isolated it to the lower right rear corner of the seat, so hopefully that will help speed along the fix.

Thanks for sharing the pain Jen!

Seat will be replaced...

Very good question and I also have the squeak.
First visit to the dealer and I gave them the below in case (thank you to another member for posting):
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/g...eat/1VncfZsaoF
They worked on the height adjustment of the seat and said it was fixed.

Then a week later: the same noise again !
Took the car back this Wednesday.
The verdict is that they will purely and simply -replace the seat-.
There is a 4 to 6 weeks delay to have the seat (!).
So it seems to be a known problem and there is a big order backlog for the seats.
Will let you know once they call back and change it.

I took it into the dealer. They lubed a few bolts and tightened it up and back to fine. No parts needed. And just took a few minutes. But they also wanted to update software per dealer recall so they kept it all day.

I have noticed it on the front passenger seat but it's a right-hand-drive car so that would be the driver's seat on the North American models. Good to know it has been fixed for some people. I'll mention it the next time the car is in at the dealership.

Took my car in last week for the squeaky drivers seat (3rd trip to service in 3 months of ownership) and of course the tech can’t reproduce the noise. BMW Motorwerk Bloomington, MN is not impressing me so far.

I’ve found that adjusting the seat can make the squeak stop for awhile so I am betting this is what the lazy tech did. I’ve had the car back just 3 days now and yesterday the squeaking started up again, every time I got in.

I really enjoy the way this car drives but after this fix if I have any more annoying squeaks or rattles this will be my last BMW. My Chevy Malibu was tight as a drum for 70,000 miles and the thing cost me half what this G01 did.

QQ: Is it the leg support bit creaking (you know the one where if you reach under the seat where there is a lever to extend the length of the seat)?

I ask because recently I trialled a new leather cleaner which, when that bit is fully retracte the leather rubs against the main portion of the seat and creaks. Drives me mad.

I wanted to provide a brief update to help others dealing with the squeaky seat issue. I took mine in and the tech concluded I needed a new drivers side seat frame. I've had the car back for about 4 weeks and the squeak is completely gone. Everything was fixed under warranty.

This might sound stupid but I thought I had this same squeek. Mine went away after I extended the leg support slightly. Having it closed was casuing the 2 parts of leather to rub against each other.
