Photos as promised. Been busy today fitting dash cams front and rear. Surprisingly easy. I love quality car trim. It just comes away without breaking or snapping bits off and goes back together properly.

Looks great. I’m due in the next few weeks hopefully. Out of interest, what is that phone attachment? Do you have a link please?

Looks amazing, really wanting to upgrade to the LCI now - just need them to reintroduce the deleted options. Out of interest, are you running the dashcams alongside the built in drive recorder?

Just noticed that they have included door sill protectors on the rear sills now. Always thought that was a bit of a poor thing on the current model.

Looks awesome, thought all that fuss about width adjustments on the M seats was a non-issue. Many congrats on the car

It’s a BMW one that fits in the cup holder. It’s wireless charging for the phone, plugs into the cigarette socket with a supplied adaptor and then can be broken down to become a wireless power bank.
Wanted to come away from a screen mounted phone holder now that everything is on the massive central display and I mean massive! Even though it’s only 2.3” bigger than the pre LCI it seems huge.

Anyway, the phone charger/dock I got on eBay.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Unive...-127635-2958-0

Works very well and can be removed quickly if I need the two cup holders.

Thanks for the comments about the car.

I didn’t get drive recorder. I think it was an extra £500ish option?

I already had a couple of decent Nextbase cameras. So easy to fit. Couple of bits of trim off gave great access.

Nope. eBay again.

Not quite as good quality as OEM but it’s hard to tell.

Not quite as good quality as OEM but it’s hard to tell.
It really is shocking that we have to buy these for a car that costs the best part of 60 grand. I honestly thought they had provided them. Suppose it’s only £24.

Shaun170 Wow, that looks superb! Thank you for posting the photos, they are great!

The BG colour is gorgeous - so glad I picked that colour. Your photos show it off as I remember it rather than the much lighter colour in the digital brochure.

How is the drive? Does it sound good?

I thought the same thing that they were now standard on the car! They look great in your pics so I think I might order a set for my car - many thanks for the link.

It’s still only got 17 miles on the clock I didn’t really want to be driving it around before I fitted the dash cams. Also I’ve recently had a shoulder operation and it’s still a bit painful and tires very quickly. Will only be doing local stuff for now but week after next my wife and I are popping over to the isle of White for a few nights, so that will be a mix of some nice national limit B roads and dual carriageway. But then there’s the ferry to consider where they pack you in inches apart!

BG in the sunlight is lovey. It’s got a really subtle gold sparkle to it but you do have to be up close to see it.

Early days mate, I’m sure you’ll get to enjoy it plenty. Don’t envy you the ferry crossing though!

Lovely car - we ordered and fingers crossed arriving in December.

For IoW
1. If going from Soton red funnel - watch the overhead barrier just before you head to the ramp if carrying / towing. We saw a x3 with roof box clip it, it continued up ramp but then had to reverse back and go down lower deck. Also have seen cars towing high trailers clip etc but in stock car etc you’ll be fine!
2. Also recommend activating parking sensors as you go around the ramps to get on the ship, as again I’ve seen cars clip the ramps as they turn on to ship! Applies more to longer eg tourings.
3. Last time I was last to board and had on deck parking no covered and exposed to the elements - many feet away from other close by cars so no scratch risk, however covered in salt / cr@p by the time we arrived and throughout the hols. Nothing we could do tbh.

You may even sail by some of the RoRos and see people driving new RRs or Astons on or off the ships, just after you depart. Or even X3s!

On a more positive note.. really recommend the drive from the needles (west) down towards Ventnor on the old military road. Breathtaking views especially in that easterly direction down and up the cliffs, with the sea on your right. We used to do it a lot in our z4 vert but last time in sport+ on the F36 440i - always such a great drive and especially in a brand new beaut.

Have a fab time and many congrats again!!

Cheers, we do White Link from Portsmouth to Fishguard.

I think I’ve driven that Military Road before and the views are stunning. I think I said at the time that I’d love to ride my bike on it too. Might go and do it again in Sport mode in the X3!
