I actually prefer a taller sidewall, I went from 21's down to 20".....i'll be fitting 19's soon for winter so i'll be in my element! plus i'll be interested to see if the comfort improves over the 20's.

I can see that. The difference is what you are willing to compromise or give up in exchange. The entire category of design/appearance doesn't surpass vehicle dynamics for me. I was even willing to consider an iX at one point! Proof enough!

Yes unfortunately its regular glass. I saw someone installed acustic glass and he was happy but I also saw someone said even acustic glass couldn't solve the problem. Car is new so I guess I have to live with it but it's annoying.

Agree, definitely one of the worst sounding door closing feel and sound. First time I closed it I thought something was broken. I’ve owned 8 BMWs in the last 10yrs and the door close sound is the worst.

No new X3 G01 in the US market has acoustic front side window glass. It’s not even an option onX3 in the US market since around 2020. Even back then I don’t think it was a common option that was added. It continues to be standard in other markets though.
Easy to check older cars via VIN and look if a car that has option code 3KA. If not present, acoustic front side glass is not fitted. |

After I finally got my major wind noise issue fixed I realized how much you can still hear external noise even at a dead stop.
Oh, I know you’ve read the thread. You need to put your rear seats down for that!

One of the guys from the UK, I don't recall which one was arguing recently with me here about how a Rav 4 is almost an X3 M40i for far less money

Although I'd love to own a Toyota HILUX for practical reasons, a RAV4 is nowhere even remotely in the same class as an M40i or even a 30i or 30d.

I thought the solution was to make sound holes in the rear floor. Or run a pipe from the exhaust into the cabin.

Nope. I have had it on all of my last 5 or so cars but not this one. A shame but the rest of the car was lovely and it only lacked this and HUD which, on a 2 series, I was not bothered about ... as it had the newer dash. Loads of stuff which is std on the X3 is extra on a 2 series. My X3 M40i had nearly every extra so I was spoilt and should not have sold it. That said, the M240i xdrive is as quick as my remapped M40i was

They are a great car for what they are ... but 6 to 60 didn't do it for me. It looked ok but the theft issues in the UK and London are awful for Rav4's. Build is for 'use' ... not like BMW which is in a different league quality wise.

The brakes; So sensitive/grabby, unable to brake smoothly.
The steering: Electronically dead and soulless. The downshifting during braking: Sometimes ok, sometimes jerky. Dunno why the G01 has this. F series don't. xHP makes it a little better but still not perfect. Even my E46 does it better. The audio: HK system but sounds worse than my E91 hifi system. Every song/genre/album needs a different EQ setup to sound good. Why do i still drive this car |
