I hate this on the LCI. I moved from a 2020 to a 2023 after someone rear ended me. 2020 had no chrome on the vent. 2023 has a bunch, and it reflects in the sun, often obscuring the image in the side mirror.

I shot this picture in the passenger seat with the passenger mirror while my wife was driving, as it would be difficult and dangerous to do so while in the driver's seat. On the driver's side I find it worse than this image reveals. Probably relevant: I adjust my mirrors in that way that prevents blind spots (none of your car in mirror, other cars progress across the 3 mirrors continuously, etc).

This is my first time ever looking at this thread; I started reading it from the most current posts…

On this matter, count me among the disappointed re “door closing experience”, though I’ll concede that it’s likely a product of the aluminum construction and not a “quality” issue

Actually, I really don’t care how the doors sound when closing them . I just chimed in on it thinking maybe some didn’t know the doors are aluminum. My main concern is that the car starts, runs, and continues to do so for as long as I own it . Lol

You only close your door once. Who would ever want to exit this lovely car?

Yes, I do. Had 110+ temps here in Dallas with 45% humidity. The seats did nothing.

I'd say my old '05 RL had the best closing sound. '11 GTI had the second and the X3 comes in at three.

The best door sound I’ve ever heard was when my ex wife left, back in 2001

I noticed the same on mine on day one of ownership.

I initially thought my side mirrors were cracked due to seeing the lines for the first time. Definitely not a great look when driving in the daytime.

Rattles. Mine's at the dealership now for a new ambient light strip (which I think the previous dealership may have broken), oil, inspection sticker, and Rattles. The wind noise is manageable now, not great, louder than my 2019s, but I can live with it. I took the shop foreman for a ride yesterday morning and he said "that faint rattle?" I said yes, that faint rattle...... The tech doing the work couldn't hear it yesterday according to my SA. The light strip will be in on Monday, I told the SA to get a tech with better hearing, or I'll just be bringing it back next week. And the week after. And the week after, ad infinitum. Not loving this car.

I hate rattles, but thankfully mine doesn't have one (yet).

Reminds of this video:

Every time I describe the subpar “door feel” people make fun of me as if it’s not a thing. It is definitely a thing.

Might be a new topic to them and they’re just trying to get a handle on it.

Without fail, every car wash I have results in a rear end that looks like someone blew chunks all over it. I wonder if the XM has this problem...

I know your pain. It's like the rear spoiler just takes a leak all over the tailgate as soon as you pull off

Here's my recipe:
  1. Wash car
  2. Do a quick dry of the hood, roof and tailgate area & rear bumper
  3. Open tailgate to let the air and sun hit it while you're drying other areas
  4. Dry the rest of the car really good and make sure to keep checking the front doors at the side mirror for drips.
  5. Wrap a dry microfiber cloth around the edge of a credit card and run it down the car from rear to front right under the window trim. Most of the water will be around the side mirrors.
  6. Close your tailgate half way and dry it good
  7. Close tailgate all the way, dry up any drips, and run the credit card & cloth back and forth under the rear window spoiler where water hides. Don't push too hard as there is rubber/adhesive up there, but keep going until the cloth comes out dry.
  8. Take the credit card & cloth and run it through the gap under your rear taillights and under the reflectors where more water hides.
  9. Go back AGAIN and use the credit card/cloth down both sides under the window trim, from rear to front to pick up more water (it will be there)
  10. Push your mirrors forward and use the credit card/cloth to get all the water out
  11. Do your door jambs & wheels
  12. Go back and use the credit card/cloth down the side AGAIN (it keeps coming!) and THEN do underneath your rear window spoiler one last time.

Its next level OCD and time consuming, but its the only way UNLESS you have access to compressed air. In that case, blow out the same trouble areas under the window trim esp near the side mirrors, rear spoiler and rear lights, but do it multiple times as water will keep finding its way back.

There is one more way, a heated 8HP MasterBlaster. 1 thru 12 above can be done in a few minutes. This car holds more water than any other car I have ever seen.
