The RS6 avant is a go. I am a ///M guy but I had the last RS6 sold here and seriously thinking of getting the Avant. The S6 Avant is also rumored to be sold here. BMW needs to make it more aggressive, seems they focus on the X5/X6 ///M and M5/M8 and not as much with the 3 and 4. MB makes even their stupid GLC43 look significantly more special than the plebeian GLC300.

Or another fast estate car...

Sadly BMW don't currently make one, because of the SUV craze and hence why I moved away from the marque. I still have an M3 Comp pack in the fleet of course, but the C63S is so practical as well as being very quick and it goes around corners in a way that physics won't allow SUVs to.

Shame there isn't a way to order an SAV in the states without the rear windows already equipped with privacy glass. This looks good.

Not bad. That X3 M Competition looks good in that vid.

But... really? The word "Competition" on an X3? What are you competing in?

Like many of you guys, I want to love this car (good engine, probably drives nicer than a X3 30i, good interior), but I can't get over this terrible, ugly body proportion of an old CR-V look. Everytime I see X3 on road, makes me grimace
Not looking for a sleek sedan/coupe look on an SUV, but let's be honest, X3 was, and is an ugly ass suv for sure...

Personally I don't know why anyone would want to however, the factory privacy glass is not tinted with a film that can be removed like aftermarket tint.

Yeah I would never track this, its my DD and I just love performance cars. I would just go with regular X3M BUT for $7,000 I would be getting a lot of things I want anyway (larger wheels, better exhaust, blacked out trim, extra horsepower never hurts), but I hate the badging, I mean really hate it. Even on the M3 and M5 how many people are "competing"

but I don't want to go as far as full badge removal, still like the X3M badge. wonder if they can do that, badge a Comp as a regular,

Just replace the badges yourself

You can also just remove the "Competition" portion of the badge. Then you'll have black X3 ///M badges remaining. If I get one I'm going to lease so not sure I should do that but it makes the most sense to me.

Picked up our X3 M40i at the Performance Center in Spartanburg last week. During the factory tour I saw both an X3M and an X4M in the QC testing station after assembly. In a sea of X3/4 they didn't stick out at all. I wouldn't have noticed them if it weren't for the badging on the grill and front wheel arch.

Thanks for the info. Was thinking of dumping my GLC43 for an X3M at some point, but this is disappointing. I'll probably still check it out, but looking like GLC63 might be the better option...plus MB has Android Auto. A shame, cause the the Bimmers do drive a bit better than the MBs.

The silver lining, allocations would be readily available right from the get go, unlike M2, MSRP and mark up city all over

A black GLC63 has been at my neighbours a few times the past month. You won't go unnoticed in that car as even at crawling speeds it sounds like thunder and Throw clearing his throat. It has HUGE presence.

V8s are increasingly rare, the GLC63 has an authentic exhaust track that a 6 cylinder can't match even with an after market exhaust.

On the other hand I think the X3M Competition will be a bit more precise and communicative in its handling.

Although appreciative of what MB has done with that line, I'm expecting our X3M Competition may offer similar performance but more nuanced handling as you suggest, while flying 'under the radar' as we would prefer (especially with selective badge removal). Hopefully some road tests will start showing up now that production has started.

I wish I could have ordered an X3M instead of a highly specced G01 20i but given that it will be my other half's car, barely 10% of its performance would be used.

However in 18 months I will get myself something fun. Whether it will be a G80 M4 or used F30 M140i depends on what I will feel at the time. I will give the X3M a test drive too.

Shouldn't it be G82? and F30 doesn't sound right for a 1 series, because it isn't...?

Yeah but No SUV does.

Alfa
Mercedes
Macan

Their top versions all look almost identical to base ones.

Probably biggest change is f pace. But they put that stupid gray trim on it...
