X3 F25 PDC module fault

Hi everyone,

I believe my PDC module has went faulty.

I had the rear bumper off the car today and verified the correct 12v power to the plug was present.
I checked the continuity of ground on the plug on the car side and checked continuity of the live and ground on all connectors in the bumper itself.

My front sensors are working and my rear right hand side 1 seemingly is working. The other 3 rear sensors do not work at all. While the bumper was off I swapped the sensors and the rear right continues to work, which suggests to me that the sensors are not the problem.

I am getting no codes relating to PDC on BimmerLink or Carista and am at a loss as to what could be causing this. The car doesn't have any error messages on iDrive but of course they came up when the car was started and bumper was off.

Has anyone had or heard of a PDC module failure on an F25, and does anyone know where this module is as I can't see its location online or on realOEM?

Any help is much appreciated.

Jon

My wife's PDC failed in her X1 due to water damage. Check to see if your module got wet and damaged. I think it's on the passenger side beneath the storage cubby in the hatch area.

Yeah it sounds like that could be the issue. I stripped all the carpet and panels back on saturday and could not find the module. Hoping its a straightforward issue.

I can't find this module for the life of me!
Back from some time away on holiday and still got the same issue...

Is the pdc ran from the footwell module in some f25s or am i being stupid 😂?

NewTIS says it's handled in the junction box behind the glove box:

A search there also has a service bulletin about malfunctioning rear sensors due to wiring rubbing on the body:

Hello, so- has anyone figured out where the PDC module is located on F25? I have a 2012 and same thing- for the life of me I can't find it after taken the boot apart. PDC is disabled for some reason and I want to check the module first. Has anyone figured out a way to test the sensors without specialized equipment?

You can test the sensors with ISTA-D on a laptop. The module is under the car by the right passenger wheel, ahead of the subframe, IIRC.

hardparker many thanks. So my boot looks just like j1751's picture above. Where in that picture should I be looking? Or are you saying it's under the car?? I'm confused- apologize. So not in the trunk?

Not in the trunk. Under car. Connected to or just in front of subframe, IIRC. I thought somebody posted a pic already. BRB...

Yeah- that's the issue- someone else earlier had the same question. We just can't find it where they say it is. I looked at realoem.com but their pic is too vague indicating its there by the rear passenger wheel. It's just it's not..

Ahh- Karlshea was right. I just purchased the service manual and sure enough there is no PDC module...It is indeed integrated in the junction box. I've also managed to diagnose the issue using the Creator 310 scanner which pointed to the two rear left side sensors indicating they are disconnected and it is indeed what is described in the service bulletin karlshea posted above. The sensor harness rubbed against the trailer hitch and ruptured one of the wire leading to the two left sensors. I just fixed the wires and I have PDC again.

I'm viewing your image but am still not sure which cable harness is for the PDC. Is it the black one towards the bottom of the yellow highlighted area that connects near that battery terminal or is the set of 3 plastic harnesses inside the yellow area but "deeper" in the trunk well that are set/connected to that bottom tray?

Any help is appreciated.
