Press the "DSC" button and make sure to fully depress the gas peddle (kick-down mode) quickly. Also make sure to move the shifter over into the "sport" automatic mode.

Just got home playing around with LC trying to see what my car can do from 0-60.

1. Go Sport Plus
2. One quick press DSC
3. Click your shifter left to put your tranny into "Sport mode"
4. Fully press brake
5. Fully press gas
6. Let go of your brake.
Vrrooommmmmm.

Tip... even if you see a message saying launch mode activated... let your boost build up for few more seconds. I usually let go of my brake around 3k RPM.
My torque app said I did 0-60 in 4.37sec and calculated my HP at 434hp on a road with terrible surface. Gonna try again on a better road tomorrow night.

Are there any actual warnings from BMW to not use launch control? Asking from comparison to a GTR if you launch your car X times you need to replace your transmission.

nope. just make sure that your car is fully warmed up before launching.
also after hard driving... dont turn off your engine right away. you dont want your oil cooking in that hot turbo. drive around normally for 5 to 10 minutes and you will be alright.

btw.. sorry for my bad english. its my 2nd language

2 warnings from BMW.

1. Don't do until break-in period complete

2. Wait 5 minutes between pulls to let differentials cool down.

I had a GTR - you do not need to replace the transmission but you do need to have the car serviced and the transmission oil flushed and replaced after so many times. I forget the amount of times - I only did it once (and it was crazy).

The earlier model year GTR's transmissions did break when people actually used launch control. This is why there was a class action lawsuit.
Weird but this was a factory option.

https://jalopnik.com/this-is-nissans...lement-5565919

And now Nissan limits the launch control to 4 consecutive launch control uses in a row, and then the car needs to be cooled down or they tell you this may cause damage.

That was my purpose of the question, was BMW as silly as Nissan offering something in their car but telling people DONT USE IT.

Nissan came out with the launch control and 0 to 60 level to tie the Porsche 911 Turbo S of the same year, but the problem was their car really couldn't take it while the Porsche could. Quite a mess they made trying to compete rather than just de-tuning a pinch and making it last without issues.

Yes we all do and yes it should display that.

Also for those who go to the 1/4 mile track like me and don't drive the 6 miles like in the manual, it still displays "launch control" on the dash when I do it every time.

I think the reason why many people have issues activating launch control (Flag in Dash) is because the gas pedal is not fully depressed, past the click. This at least happens to me, even though I swear that I smash the pedal as hard as possible. I believe that the launch control design on this particular BMW (dont have experience with other BMW's) is very poor as compared to Audi. When i had the Audi, launch control was very easy to get activated, no need to mash the pedal, the car would always know that when the break along with the gas pedal is depressed and the car is in sport mode that launch control should be activated. I just wished that BMW had such a similar system. I for once after many attempts was only able to see the flag maybe 2 or 3 times, even though I followed all the steps. Most of the time, my launch only turns out to be a break boost.

Agree easier to activate but that's dual clutch. So its literally letting you launch as whatever RPM you want just like you are dropping a clutch. The ZF being traditional torque converter would have no benefit to launch at 1800 rpm or 2300 rpm, its gotta be full throttle to set the mode and GO

When you fully press the gas do you then come off the gas down to say 3k before coming off the brake?

Honestly, your written English in this thread is more coherent than a LOT of people who call it their first (and probably only) language, so don't apologize.

In my experience, it kind of hangs at 3K RPM until you let off the brake. It doesn't free rev to the red line. It takes a couple of seconds to get up to 3K
