What option was the digital speedo?

Are you limited to what you can do with the enet cable? I noticed on bimmercode it says 'A “UniCarScan” or “OBDLink” adapter is required for coding this control unit' for a lot of the options. I assumed you would be able to do everything with the enet but it doesn't state it anywhere?

Thanks for any help.

Stand to be corrected, but I think the UniCarScan and OBDLink adapters have better transmission (data) speeds than the older adapters. But enet won't have this issue.

I have a UniCarScan, so not going to go down the enet route, but does sound like it is WAY better and faster to load the ECU's

No. The new adapters, and the Ethernet cable have same functionality. The confusion about the OBD and the Ethernet is because a lot of users have the older OBD ones do not have the full functionality and are these are also super slow as well as the ones that are on Amazon for $10 sold today. If you get the $70 OBD or the Ethernet youre good to go.

No, the enet cable is the absolute best method with the highest compatibility with the modules.

Which are the old versus new ones? the ones linked from the Bimmercode website are only $18 (ethernet to ODB cable) and $15 (lightening to Ethernet adaptor)

Can you post a link to the correct (newest and fastest) ENET cable ?

Mike.

Think poster is talking about the older OBD adapters @Mike72

ENET Cable:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Enet-Ethern...s%2C872&sr=8-5

Ethernet to Lightning (For connection to iPhone):

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ethernet-Ne...s%2C158&sr=8-5

I don't have these, so teaston may have better links

Otherwise plenty on eBay too

Cheers,

Those are the ones I was looking at (well the ENET ODB one anyway) so good to know. Will probably go with those rather than Bluetooth ones as this seems fastest and is (fortuitously) cheapest option too !

It’s inside the Instrument Cluster in the BimmerCode app. I have to say it is only “ok”. It’s sort of a subtle number that shows inside the speedometer ring. If you really want a digital speedo always it is better to code the full Alpina dash.

Has anyone been able to get the enet cable to work with an Android phone?

I don't believe ENET cable is supported with Android. See https://bimmercode.app/adapters/. It lists an ENET cable only under iOS.

So, your standard colour of Sportmode instruments are grey??
US thing??

Strange..
In my standard European X3 G01, Sport mode makes the instruments red already..

Also at night time, my Comfortmode instruments become red.

Fun fact, when the dealer puts your key in the reader, it shows every time you put the car in diagnostic mode (I usually revert the digital cluster from Alpina to regular and have the car start in Comfort mode from Sport Individual). The SA didn't question me, but I'm curious if they raise an eyebrow every time they see that.

Is it bound to the key that was used when the car was put in diagnostic mode or does the car upload this information to every key that is ever used with the car? If the former, maybe I should drive the car to the dealer with my wife's key rather than mine.

When you use a key it copies the data to it, so you'd have to use your key to drive to the dealers, and take your wife's key in a metal box or faraday bag.

And then a) the dealers will know that key doesn't have the latest data on it, and b) they won't even care if you've used diagnostic mode anyway!

I want to be able to connect 2 phones at the same car. This is the functionality that comes with 6NX options. After some search I found these values, although I'm not able to verify, whether it's enough to change these, or there is more. Any advice? I have just Bimmercode..

HU_NBT_EVO > AUDIO_TUNER_TRAFFIC 3002 > MICROPHONE_NUMBER = wert_1
HU_NBT_EVO > TELEFON_TELEMATIK_ONLINE 3003 > BLUETOOTH_2ND_HFP = aktiv
TELEFON_TELEMATIK_ONLINE 3003 > BLUETOOTH_2ND_HFP = aktiv
HU_NBT_EVO > TELEFON_TELEMATIK_ONLINE 3003 > TWO_PHONES_PARALLEL = aktiv

Are you sure about 6NX? E-Sys does not give me that option for G01. Are you perhaps thinking of wireless charging, which is 6NW? 6NW supports Bluetooth connection with two phones at the same time. Adding 6NW to my car (which does not have it) changes about 25 values. See the attached Excel. Not all of them are needed to connect two phones as most of them pertain to the office functions. The three you identified seem to me to be the right candidates.

I ment all of the 6N options, using X as a wildcard(?). Thanks, I'll look into it. I know that EBT contains a lot more items because of the Office functions, but I don't want/need them.

Hi I wanted to do some coding with the Bimmercode app. I have the OBDLink mx+ and running an iPhone. On a 2020 X3 M40i I only have very few options.

I wanted to see if this is a limitation to my specific car, or am I missing something? The Bimmercode site shows dozens of coding options for the G01.

They are not accessible on the new idrive for MY2020 yet. especially headunit and instrument cluster contain a lot of function you are probably wanting to change. Positive sidenote: The stupid legal disclaimers on reverse cameras seem to absent on mine without doing any coding changes.
