What color is your start button?

I thought the G01 came with a black start button. Ours came with silver, which my wife likes (but I like red). I looked at a bunch of images on google and it looks like it can be either black or silver. What does everyone else have?

Mine's silver, is there a difference with msport/non-msport versions perhaps?

Mine is black (2018 M40i). I want to change it to blue to match the stitching. But I know that if it was any other color at purchase I would be wanting to switch it to black. So I'll leave it.

Hmm good question. Ill report when I get mine, I have the black leather with the blue contrast in a 2020. A CF option would be best Im thinking. But I did not see any option for that.

Available in black too, cool huh? There are some real button replacements too, not just stickers out there.

Doesn't 2020 have that "galvanized" (forced?) option that slaps cheap plasticy silver on a bunch of buttons now? My 2019 is black, and boy am I happy about that.

You're right! I forgot about that "improvement". All of our window and mirror buttons are now silver.

it's an optional equipment called "Trim galvanization" or something like that. It makes the HVAc buttons, start button, window switches and some other elements in galvanized metal instead of black plastic.

This option might come standard with some trims, specs or dealer/region dependable.

Most likely you are correct. I think I misspoke, what I meant is that I wish there was an aftermarket option for CF. Because currently no matter what color I do get I think I would want a CF one. And there are only actual colored ones available red blue etc.

It’s called Galvanic embellisher for controls, it’s been an option in UK since launch, and is automatically added if you have ACC or DA+

If you like the red start button similar to the newer m-division vehicles, go with IND. I replaced my 2017 M4 with a red start button. Great quality and it really changes the look.

Did it fit well? I want to add the blue to match my stitching, but have seen complaints the the IND buttons are a larger diameter than OEM and some stick.

I had no issues removing the original (used the sticky putty method) and the IND version popped straight in w/o any issues. It did pop out once a few weeks after installation when I pressed it to start the vehicle, but that was many, many months ago and hasn't happened since.

Thanks. Sticky putty? So you just used a putty and got it to stick enough that the push button popped out? I tried that with Duct Tape but it didn't work.

Exactly. Check out Youtube (I think that's where I saw it). Search sticky / putty button removal...that or just google it. Can't be certain where I found the link, but worked perfectly. Apply the putty. Press the putty down hard. Wait 10 or so secs and just yank it off in one straight up pull. I found the putty on Amazon btw

You should try the putty method first. Someone posted their red button on another thread. And you can clearly see the trim was messed up in the process.
