I just received the one that DCC was selling. Looks great, I can’t wait to install it tomorrow.

Now we need the steering wheel trims I wish the OEM G8X pieces would fit the steering wheel. A high quality replacement would be very welcome

I’ve only seen overlays? Unless you mean the M Performance ones. Which block off the bottom hole that for some reason I love. I bought the OEM G8X pieces for my G42 just because I like it better with the opening at the bottom.

ohhh you want the hole. gotcha.

yeah autotecknic is the only option you have, though that only comes with the cf top and alcantara bottom.

I just get the M performance and not worry about the hole. I can still live a reasonably comfortably life without everything exactly to my preference. I suppose

I ordered the steering wheel trim and carbon paddle shifters off eBay. Should be coming in this week or next. I will let you know how they fit. They have the hole, steering wheel heat hole and Driver Assist Pro so should fit fingers crossed.

I ordered the M performance steering wheel kit the other day after my last comment here. But I also have the original M3 pieces on the way for my G42. I know the upper half doesn’t fit cause I’ve seen what’s different. I’m curious if the lower part with the hole in it fits.

I’ve had my trim hydro dipped in carbon effect and although the results are good, it’s not real carbon. Yours looks real so I’m very interested in what is involved.

What you mean you just laid carbon sheets over the original trim applied some sort of resin and then put it in an oven?

You might have to go into a bit more detail on this. The results look stunning.

I have a US based manufacturer that may be able to do these at a bit more affordable cost. The biggest obstacle is getting enough cores to re-skin, otherwise you will have down time waiting for the piece to be re-skinned.

He's in the middle of manufacturing intakes for RK Autowerks, but if there is enough interest here, I could explore that option.

it’s hand laid carbon fiber over the original OEM piece, basically the same method by Indiv. you sand down the original part, spray adhesive, lay down carbon fiber, cover that with multiple coats of resin, sanded and polished.

there are tons of different shops internationally that do this as well as numerous DIY videos and kits on the internet. nothing new. confused2
