I for one love it. Enhanced internals and more color choices... better tech, and I like the looks. Oy downside is I will probably be paying close to msrp.

I actually love the X3 rear redesign.
But the X4 rear - the bumper/diffuser.....really found it to be designed differently for the sake of being different. Hate those random wedges with gloss black inserts....feels so unnecessary. The front is alright....nothing great or horrid... The interiors - the accents on the vents - was it really needed? The bigger screen, sp18 idrive, the mview instrument layout - all awesome changes! I hope we can code the mview layout on our current ID7 somehow |

I think the X3MC looks better in every way, and really like the new rear tail lights. If I hadn’t picked up a new 8 Series GC a month ago, I’d have ordered one. I might run the figures on one, and get it for the wife (me!).

Couple things to keep in mind, which brought about this LCI:
- The original F97 was a bit of a parts bin car. Not as much uniqueness as other M cars, while the performance was still there, BMW knew they would have to spice it up later to some degree - BMW may have rushed it a little as they needed a platform to give the S58 its test run. The car may not have existed otherwise - BMW is clearly positioning the LCI as an alternative to the G80, so naturally they would match the styling inside and out with a more comprehensive upgrade than what is typically found in a mid cycle refresh |

I think it's a Bosch design. IIRC Mercedes and Audi have the same thing.

Own a 20 f97, and this is a disappointment. The front bumper is bizarre and the taillights are awkward. Change for the sake of it, nothing more.

love it. i'm all for the updated design and change. those who hate it prob have the '20 or just picked up a '21.
looks like a mini x5m and now w the interior updated, wowzas! this puts the x3 model on a whole different level. you just have to admit it. i know a lot of consumers cross shop bmw and always felt the interior was lacking. love the g80 and love this look too. bmw is going in the right correction and i bet when these r on the road, people will like it even more in person.

None of this interior was "lacking" my man... its a modern, streamlined update.. yes, looks fresher.. yes.. but the pre-lci X3M/X4M certainly didn't get any complains for its interior fit and finish... Last edited by spucktacular; 12-20-2023 at 02:09 PM.. |

As for the front end setup... yes, a 6 pot caliper like the M3/M4 would have been nice, even nicer would have been a ceramic option.. but we must still appreciate the rotors are two piece floating design, with aluminum hubs and fairly sizeable front rotor diameter, that still fit under a 20" winter rim. Thick and properly vented. I guess compared to a X3 M40i they are an improvement, but compared to any proper sports car from the last decade... they could have done better. the main issue with larger calipers is weight.... given the fairly uncomfortable ride quality, lager brakes would make that situation even worse. Maybe as a reasonable compromise, BMW could have equipped the larger 6 pot calipers from the M3/M4 on the X3/X4 Competition models and left the 4pot on the non-comps...
