Really, how is it, in any way, that the M SUVs are effecting the M3/M4? I mean, the X5M and X6M have been around for a while. Are they hurting your M4? Did you buy your M4 because you like how it performs, or because it has a M badge on it? If you like the performance of the FUN car, then I would suspect that's still the same with, or without, X3M and X4M's running around. If it's because you have a M badge on your trunk, and you think only cars that fit your definition of M cars should have the same badge, then yeah, I guess you're going to have a bad time. But that's a pretty dumb reason to get worked up.

Is the 911 less of a sports car because of the Cayenne and Macan? I think it's pretty fair to say that the success of those SUVs have allowed Porsche to do even more for the 911/Cayman/Boxster.

The Midwest regularly gets more than 5 inches of snow - never had a problem in any of my BMWs in the winter (with the appropriate tires of course).

I also lay down my seats to get bigger things into the car - it's really not that difficult to understand, at least to me. They've got little levers in the trunk now that release the seats for you, which takes all the guess work out of how to do it...

Snowless, in Seattle? Is that you?

According to the interwebs...

Seattle typically receives some snowfall on an annual basis but heavy snow is rare. Average annual snowfall, as measured at Sea-Tac Airport, is 6.8 inches (17.3 cm).

vs.

Winter in Chicago proves quite variable: Seasonal snowfall in the city has ranged from 9.8 inches (24.9 cm) (in 1920–21) up to 89.7 in (228 cm) (in 1978–79), and the average annual snowfall in Chicago is 36 inches (91 cm).

Maybe if you pack all 6.8 inches of annual snowfall in front of your SUV, it will provide some additional utility.

Maybe you two could stop the banter and go out and each get a Raptor? Smiles all around.

BMW X4 M / X3 M Prototypes - Rims & Tires

TIRES
Brand: Michelin
Model: PILOT SPORT 4S
Front Size: 255/40 ZR 21
Rear Size: 265/40 ZR 21

Front Tire Width: 255 Millimeters = 10.0394" Inches
Rear Tire Width: 265 Millimeters = 10.4331" Inches

The X4 M / X3 M Prototypes Rims are just slightly different and appear to be very similar Wheels as the 2019 BMW X4 40i two-toned sharp techy style Rims just painted all black.

Not to fond of the sharp techy style, I've seen worse BUT I've also seen better. Wish they looked more classically cool like the M3/M4 Competition Package, CS and BBS Rims.

Hopefully they will be a bit wider in the rear and a cooler design in All-Black, I'm sick of cleaning freaking rims!

X3 M40i owner and I can say with 100% certainty that the X3 is a way more usable package than the F3x/8x architecture if you have kids. We have 5 kids, some of whom are of driving age as well as a 6 year old. Plenty of room to take two kids with us, but with 3 it gets tight. We also have a 340i for my son and the back seat is much tighter and trunk space is more limited. Compare it to my old M4 and it is not even close.

I for one am excited to see what they did with the full M version. The M40 is an awesome vehicle that is plenty quick and handles very well for what it is. Most of us who have kids don't have time to spend hours out in the canyons on weekend drives or we get our wives cars that we actually enjoy driving too. This truck should be an absolute riot to drive.

For those of you that think they are overusing the M badge, e30 M3 owners would say the same about the Luxobarge that the F80 M series has become...

Really, how is it, in any way, that the M SUVs are effecting the M3/M4? I mean, the X5M and X6M have been around for a while. Are they hurting your M4? Did you buy your M4 because you like how it performs, or because it has a M badge on it? If it's because you have a M badge on your trunk, and you think only cars that fit your definition of M cars should have the same badge, then yeah, I guess you're going to have a bad time. But that's a pretty dumb reason to get worked up.

Is the 911 less of a sports car because of the Cayenne and Macan? I think it's pretty fair to say that the success of those SUVs have allowed Porsche to do even more for the 911/Cayman/Boxster.
Damn you Bimmerpost for putting this thread on the front page! I know better then to get involved with SUV and EV threads

Not sure what your taking about regarding your "effecting" comments????

I buy cars I enjoy driving. Period. Couldn't care less what others think. Most of the time I downplay the car I drive to other people.

I'll put it like this. I DO NOT get America's ridiculous fascination with SUVs. People should just get a minivan if that's what required.

BMW if your listening. We need an ///M Minivan Pronto. Preferably with ZCP/Competition pack and exhaust burbles.

Not much "sport" or "utility" in SUVs as far as I am concerned. I'll take a sporty wagon any day over these vehicles.

Let the fun begin

Maybe it's not for you, but for 90% of Americans SUVs have significant utility and the M variants (including the competitors) are relatively extremely sporty.

My X5M defies the laws of driving physics for a vehicle it's size/dimensions.
