The video in POST 47 seems to confirm you lose your album art when you go full screen, which is a shame, but I wonder if you get it back when ios 13 comes out?

Also, at 1:10 of the video, he says CarPlay subscription is activated for life this way. Can anyone like Almaretto or shawnsheridan confirm that's how it works, once your free year is up, and it's not going to mess anything up?

This would be lost if BMW flash the ECU but you should be able to reload it again.

If you don't have BMW activated by BMW then an update will brick your iDrive as it will reject the hacked FSC codes that have been injected as part of the non-BMW CarPlay activation. Can be fixed with an FSC restore kit though.

I cant speak for what eBay seller is offering. If 143 FSC Code is used though, then CarPlay subscription is no longer required as CarPlay is then enabled forever via FSC Code.

I subscribed for the 1 month free trial down here in Oz. I then, a few days later, bought a 'CarPlay in Full Screen' implementation off eBay.

I'm still using CarPlay and it's several months after I initially enabled it.

Dunno how, but I am not complaining.

You likely purchased FSC plus Fullscreen.

And therefore, the things that M140iGuy said aren't correct? About your iDrive and NAV getting bricked if you use an FSC code to get a lifetime CarPlay subscription, instead of thru BMW?

Brick is an extreme choice of words.

System functionality, that relies on FSC, will not work. But, as stated, can be restored.

He gives you a lifetime activation code, so if software is updated by BMW, he will put it back. Can and does do plenty remote coding sessions, and has done many many M40i's, M40d's, and the rest of range.

Only thing is trying to get it to connect every time. Will it automatically go to CarPlay? I can get it connected but then when I go out the car and back in it doesn't come on automatically

If you don't mind me asking, what kit do you need and how long does it take?

Very interested in doing this as the default CarPlay screen is such a waste of screen real estate.....

Yes, it only uses about 2/3 of the screen area

By the way, I programmed mine this weekend and it worked without issues. It's a bit of a stressful 10 minutes while you wait, but painless overall. My toughest issue was finding a Windows laptop with an ethernet port - took me about a week to finally find one.
