KAFAS2 is not needed. It works with FLA Camera for High-beam Assistant too.

Good to hear, funny question, does it work as well as it would with KAFAS2 ?

I want to code city lights and anti dazzle. I do a lot of night driving on country roads and it would seem ideal!

I am not aware of any functional differences with FLA or KAFAS cameras with regard to Variable Light Distribution or Glare Free High Beams.

That is good to hear, so I will leave it be and just try for the coding.

Can anyone recommend a GTA Toronto coder. I would prefer an in person job.

Thanks!

I'd still get SLI though.

That's exactly why. It's dirt cheap, and $350 on a $40k plus car is nothing.

Sorry, US versus Canadian pricing is a bit of a sore spot.... Although with our CDN dollar dropping, things are starting to even out. When we were at par, it was a bit vexing to see the differential. And don't get me started on taxes.....

Back on topic,

Thanks for your help and input!

There are a few guys on Kijiji Toronto that I looked into but they charge over $200.

Just keep in mind that you may need to re-code your vehicle after taking it in for service at the BMW dealership. That's why I ordered a cable online (less than $10) and followed the instructions provided by shawnsheridan and did it myself.

Ok, my cable arrived, software installed on laptop and I made a successful connection to my car - and now what

Where to go/read/click onfrom there? I completed all steps from included great installation guide, but it seems I am missing the part on where to go next. Is there another doc somewhere which explains read/backup/coding process.

Just use Coding Guides and Cheat Sheet and code car now. These should all have been included in your E-Sys package.

It is pointless to back any ECU Data up as it can be reset simply by VO Coding the ECU with original FA.

OK,

I have the cable, have the SW installed, get connected to the car ....

Now what I can not do is reading the CAFD's so they get saved on my laptop.

"Select CADF (only one with a green Check mark) file under the module you want to read
and select “Read Coding Data”" : page 6 of getting started coding....

I do not have/see the "read Coding Data" when I select a green CAFD

What do I do wrong?

Read Coding Data is when you right-click on the ECU (the ECU itself and not the underlying CAFD), in order to make CAFD first appear.

If CAFD is present, you have already Read Coding Data. Now just right-click on CAFD and select Edit FDL.

Hey,

Can someone help me with what all I need to code to enable sports auto (2TB)? Do I need to change the VO also? And what about launch control?

These will be the first things I code ever, so do give me instructions in a simplified manner please

Question... has anyone been able to find the section for the towing "software update" that BMW does? I was under the impression that everything the dealer does could be found in the settings, but I have yet to find the PDC controls for the 7-pin adapter.

In any case, 2TB in FA may result in expectation of different hardware and hence cause error in ISTA/P. There is no reason though that you can't just add 2TB to FA, without writing FA to car, but load modified FA for Coding purpose and FA Code GWS for 2TB.
Quick question after doing some more reading.

If I change the VO in the salapa element it will code the GWS/ICM itself? So I won't have to code them for sports auto after?

If it gives me an error like you mention above, can I just clear it and code the gws/icm?

Also if I don't change salapa element and I just code gws/icm, will the shifting behavior change? I don't want to enable paddles.

Lastly, do I need to code ICM also? Ive seen conflicting posts in different forums, some give some values to be changed in ICM, while you say GWS is enough?

Thanks a ton for any help.

Just changing FA does nothing. You need to load modified FA and VO Code the car.

If it gives you an error, load original FA and VO Code the car.

You should not need to code ICM.

So coded my car today finally. Changed 2TB in the FA. Then coded FDLs and activated launch control, the other 2 things in EGS were already active. Coded the ICM too, and deactivated S205A and activated 2TB. Haven't driven it properly, but in sport + and manual mode the car hit the rev limiter and didn't shift up, so that is a sure sign that the coding is working.

Also tried coding an F30, but there wasn't any F30 option when connecting from Esys, do I need more files for F30 because all the other series were there? Anyway chose F20 and coded a few small things on it.

Big thanks to Shawn and other pros like April1 whose guides have helped me.

p.s - Also had an issue connecting to FRM, where some cafd was missing. Got the link on another forum and will try with the file I downloaded tomorrow.

p.s 2 - When trying to change the logo in Kombi there was BMW_logo which I made mpm, and then another mpm_logo which is still BMW. Should I change this too?

Also planning on trying the X-Drive status tomorrow.
