Getting quotes for 5% below MSRP now. Maybe with that owner loyalty discount I'll get to the number I had in mind.

I wanted to hold off on submitting an order until the US build website was up but I decided to proceed with a purchase order today. Given the production weeks recently quoted here, I'll have roughly a month and a half to finalize the order prior to production in case the US website reveals something not evident in the order guide. Expecting delivery sometime between December 2017 and January 2018.

Here's my build:

Dark Graphite Metallic
Mocha Leather
Premium Package
Executive Package
Driver Assistance
Driver Assistance Plus
Adaptive M Suspension
Rear Manual Side Shades
Front Ventilated Seats
Dark Oak Wood Trim
Harmon Kardon Surround Sound System
Apple Car Play Compatibility
Wireless Charging
698M Wheels (All-Season Run Flat 19")

MY 2018 BMW X3 M40i - $59.933,00

I'm considering switching from a 2014 335xi to the following X3 M40i build:

C1M Phytonic Blue Metallic
4LH Fineline Cove Matte Finish Wood Trim
MAH7 Black Vernasca Leather w/contrast stitch/piping
4FH Front ventilated seats
ZPP Premium Package
4HA Front and Rear Heated Seats
ZPX Executive Package
22W 20" M Double-spoke wheels - style 699M (mixed perf)
2VF Adaptive M Suspension
688 Harman Kardon surround sound system

However, based on mostly negative/mixed reviews, I'm debating the ventilated seats and instead choosing the Black Vernasca Leather w/blue contrast stitching/piping (MANL), as it looks pretty sweet in the pictures.

I've asked my dealer to try and find a price for purchasing the "19" M Double-spoke wheels - style 698M" w/ all-season tires [22U] separately. If they want too much $$$$ for them I'd wait and find out the proper offset and buy some all-season wheels+tires separately.

Where have you read the negative/mixed reviews? Has it been on ventilated seats in other models (e.g., 5 series, X5)? We don't need the ventilated seats here in Germany but I'll be moving back to Florida in a few years, so I've gone ahead and ordered them.

I've heard mixed reviews on the ventilated seats in the X5. Some say there is less padding and they are not as comfortable.

I've read in some cases that the perforated leather is not as nice as the standard, harder to maintain, and doesn't provide much air flow, but perhaps that depends on the type of leather and the vehicle tier.

I've got the "ventilated" seats on my 2016 X5 with the comfort seating option (20-way power seats plus ventilation). In my opinion, they do just enough to keep you from getting the dreaded sweaty back on hot/humid days. I'm in NJ, so we often get summer days of 90+ degrees with 90%+ humidity. While they aren't a truly "cooled" seat (where they are tied directly into the A/C system vents), they blow just enough air to be absolutely worth it in my opinion. Given the $300 cost on the new X3, they seem like a no-brainer to me. I haven't noticed any real issue maintaining the perforated leather on our X5. The perforated leather breathes better overall too, even in non-summer months. You can also code the fans to run at higher speeds if you wish, which makes the ventilated seats work even better.

My 2017 340i does not have the ventilated seats (not even available), and I really wish it had them. I've got the Dakota leather in the 340i. Serious back sweat on hot days.

I hope this helps.

That's very helpful and is inline with what I've read about the recent deployments of the technology (e.g., F15; G30). Not groundbreaking, but just enough to be worth it, particularly if you live in an area where it regularly gets hot and humid. None of the G01s at the Frankfurt Auto Show had the ventilated seats, so I'm hoping a model hits my dealership before my order hits production.

Just in case you missed it in the order guide, if you option 22U, the 698M wheels with all-season tires, it deletes the standard option 840 which is the increased top speed limiter. You'll be limited at 210 km/h instead of 255 km/h, just something to think about if you're planning on driving it in Germany.

Good catch.

I actually revised my purchase order a few days ago to add the 20" 699Ms after my dealer noticed the same thing. I just loathe having two sets of wheels (winter/summer). Perhaps I'll replace the tires with 20" all-season non run-flats, but I haven't checked TireRack to see what's available.

As soon as I have a production date, I'm ordering a set of DWS 06s for the 20" wheels. I opted for the spare as a just in case since I always ditch the run flats anyway.

I'm getting quotes for the same ~$3K off MSRP here now too. That's including the $1,500 loyalty discount.

Wouldn't that be more like 2-3% over invoice though?

I don't follow. Invoice is $61.6 k, with 1.5% of that being $0.9 k, getting me to my deal of $62.5 k. Deal of 2.5% over invoice would be over $63 k.

I'm feeling pretty good about it since I don't get the $1500 loyalty discount, this being my first BMW!

Yeah, you're right. That's a pretty fair deal it seems. Dealer in Houston?

Actually, from a dealer in Bryan. They have been super at answering all my questions as well. A little farther away, but it'll make for a nice first drive!

That's over 9% off. Nice job. I'm at exactly 9% off on an M40i right now.
