Although ideally it is good to not put anything down on a lease. I personally always seem to end up putting down 2-3K to get payments below a certain value (it is a mental thing). Basically I'm betting on myself to not total the vehicle :-)
Note: not talking about the MSDs above, those are safe. |

How does this deal look? 2021 custom ordered X3 M40i
MSRP: $69,020 Discount: $6,650 Incentives: $3,000 Dealer Processing: $799 Tax: $3,934.14 Non-Tax Fees: $1,386.13 Is the discount good enough that I don’t need to badger them about the dealer processing and whatever the non-tax fees are? They’re also charging me $2,400 in lease end fees on an M550 with only 12k miles. It’s got a chip in the windshield and needs three new tires according to them. |

I am about to take the delivery for my MY21 30e today. MY SA and I agreed to a discount on MSRP before rebate and incentive. However, my SA told me the $750 royalty rebate is tied to the financing. if I do not get the financing from them I will not be able to get the $750. Can anyone tell me if this is true?
Another issue is on BMW website, for my zip code, the current BMW financing rate is 1.9% plus $1000 credit. My credit rating is 800+, however, my dealer won't give me that rate. They said they won't make enough money with 1.9%. They can only offer 2.9% plus $750 royalty and $1000 credit. I don't know how can they not to honor what BMW financing is offering. My alternative is to go with my credit union, the new car rate is 2.5%. Can anyone give me some ideas how to negotiate on this? Thanks in advance. |

Keep in mind you can finance a portion, seem to recall it had to be something like $7,500 (maybe $9,500), and that will get you the credit. You can fully repay the loan after three months or so making it worth your while to do that. You can do the math on the interest paid for three months vs. the rebate + credit.
But frankly the BMW published offer of 1.9% should be honored by your dealer. This is why I hate dealers... What is shown on the BMWUSA website is the official BMWFS rate so no reason for them to not honor it.

I think the rebate is tied to the financing. However they should give you 1.9 percent.

I am going no where with my SA on this. He said he did a good job for me on getting my discounts. He is not able to change that financing rate for me. So I will just need to go in to talk to their GM if I have to. When I talk to him, I will leverage this forum and see if he is willing to risk their reputations. Thanks a lot for your support, guys |

Took the delivery of my new 30e yesterday. It took way too long than what I expected, but that is another topic.
Went to the dealer complained about the financing rate. SA ask me to talk to his manager. The manager said BMW allows the dealers to markup interest rates at well even the customer has best credit rating. This is not about credit rating. It is about profit. He said he gave me a lots of discounts up front so he needs to markup the rate. He said their dealership do not even offer 1.9% for anyone at this time. After long negotiations, he finally agreed to give me more upfront discount which making up some of my additional financing cost. I ended up with little more than 10% discount off MSRP plus rebate ($750) and incentive ($1000 financing credit), but stuck with 2.9% financing. I can pay it off in 6 month. I had an OL code, but it was expired. I told them that was because they were not able to deliver my car on time, so the manager made it up for me in the up front discount. All in all, I think I got a reasonable deal. Just not happy with them not to honor BMW's financing rate even they made up some what for me another way. Making deals with car dealer is always not a fun experience. |

Does anyone know a dealer in the pacific northwest that would approach this amount of MSRP? They aren't budging even on a 2020 model on the showroom floor at 5% off MSRP.

I know the brokers on lease hacker are offering some deals but not sure if they beat 9% on the 30e. But how did you like the 30e when you test drove it?

It was very smooth. Transfer of power was seamless, more pickup than the 30 and so quiet. Only concern is the loss of storage and the battery being so small , not sure how much you gain in efficiency.

2020 X3 30i Is this a good deal? New Guy
Hey All - currently driving an 04 X3 and am finally looking to make the jump to a new vehicle. Debating buying at 60 months financing.
Got this quote on a 2020 xdrive 30i. I’ve never bought new before so I never know how much dealers are trying to take advantage of me. It’s about 14% off MSRP. I offered to sign if they dropped $2000 off the down payment and they balked. This was their first offer, the $7000 off, so I feel like they have more to give. Sorry I’m the new guy, first post so hopefully this is the right place for this post. Any thoughts or comments are appreciated. Thanks! |

Negotiating Tips?
Just curious if anyone has any negotiating tips. I am in smaller market (Harrisburg, PA) and my dealer initially quoted $1,000 over invoice (approx 4% off MSRP) before the current $2500 incentive. From what I have read in this thread, even in a smaller market a good deal would be at least around 7% off MSRP. On my initial visit I wasn't really in negotiating mode as I was still looking at other options. I just told them I may be back after looking around at all my options.
Maybe understanding their pricing/profit margins would help in my negotiations. I am looking for something to counter the typical comment "we are not making anything on the deal" that you often get when negotiating. From what I understand the dealer invoice is 5.8% under MSRP (maybe a little bit more for options). I assume they also make money off of dealer holdbacks, but I read that this 5% for BMW? If so, I am curious how even a large market dealer can offer 10% off MSRP as they would getting very close to their actual true cost. Are dealers getting some other additional hidden incentive? Thanks in advance for any information/advice.

Hi Newguy13. BMW incentives are non-negotiable. If your credit is good, then they should be giving you 0.9% or whatever is published for your region. Incentives vary by region. It’s no skin off of their backs to give you those credits. The credits are coming straight from BMW HQ. They’re written in stone. They’re not coming from the dealership. So the dealership shouldn’t withhold them from you or play games with you, if you qualify. For instance, there’s sometimes conquest and loyalty incentives.
One advantage is that you’re looking at a 2020, on the lot. With the 2021 cars coming in, they might want to get rid of the 2020’s and therefore maybe willing to deal further on the 2020’s. My advice is to read this thread (the many pages of it) starting with the most recent and reading it backwards in time. Write down everyone’s “deal” until you’ll get a good idea of what other people are paying. Usually people will state how much % discount under MSRP and state their incentives also. That’s all you really need to know. Plus, model year matters a little bit too. I think you’ll find that with both discount and incentives combined, people are getting anywhere 7% -17% off MSRP. I think 14% off MSRP is pretty good, but you should probably check out the incentives and make sure you’re not getting screwed with the incentives (or lack thereof). |
