I was told 4 weeks from order being placed to car being ready for pick up.
Car went into production 1.5 weeks after order was placed, and I am USA east coast, so 4 weeks total seems more than easily doable.

Hi All,
This is my first post on the X3 forums now that I have officially placed my order. My current car is a 2013 BMW Active Hybrid 3 and I've been eyeing the X3 m40i ever since it was released. I originally had ventilated seats in my order but thanks to these forums and the posted ordering/pricing guides, I found out that the ventilated seats removes the power adjustable side bolstering. I also read a lot about how people couldn't even feel any air come out of the seats... Deleting the seats allowed me to get the blue stitching and I spent the money saved on the seats towards the Adaptive M Suspension. With the current incentives ($2,500 finance and $1,500 loyalty) I was able to get this car at 87% MSRP (granted, this is the third BMW I've purchased from the same sales guy and he was willing to sell under invoice, so he says) 20XE X3 M40i 300 Alpine White MANL Black Vernasca Leather with Blue contrast stitching ZDA Driving Assistance Package ZN1 Active Blind Spot Detection ZN4 Lane Departure WarningZPX Executive Package 248 Heated Steering Wheel 4HA+ Front and Rear Heated Seats 4UR Ambient Lighting 5DN Parking Assistant Plus 610 Head-up Display 6C4 Connected PAckage Pro 6U3 Live Cockpit Pro [incl. lol what. 22U 698M wheels are 19" not 18"[/QUOTE]
You're right, my mistake! I was heavily considering going with the 20s but after long consideration, I decided to keep the extra money in my pocket to put towards non RFT Michelins. |

I have joined this forum for about 6 months and read tons of great comments and threads here and finally pulled the trigger for my first BMW recently:
- 2020 X3 M40i - Sunstone Metallic - Canberra Beige - Matt Wood trim - Driving Assistance Package - 19" M wheel 698M (will replace both wheels and RFTs later on anyway) - Parking Assistance Package - Premium Package - Acoustic glass - Adaptive M Suspension - Ambient Lighting - Wireless Charging - HK Sound System I only see 1-2 people who ordered Sunstone Metallic in the older threads; wonder why no one likes this color and it seems black and blue colors dominate over all other colors... but I think it looks very cool... I originally looked for a Sunstone Metallic X5 but later found out that is too big for my garage so I ended up ordering an X3 m40i with this individual color... Placed the order on 09/28 and it has already left the factory as of yesterday! Much faster than I expected... |

I think you'll really enjoy the new "adaptive" mode on the suspension that automagically adjusts the firmness of the suspension based on GPS data, and the auto steering is overall really good. Definitely would suggest the acoustic glass option. It's only $150 and having done back to back test drives, very much worth it. Edit: thread about the carbon fiber trim, with pics https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1660193 Last edited by LITflyer; 10-16-2019 at 01:00 PM.. |

I posted my initial build at the end of Sept, but ended up making quite a few changes. More importantly, (for those waiting) I was marked for "Production begins" on 10/4. The status sat still for almost 2 weeks, but yesterday jumped ahead to "Assembly in progress" and today it's at "Awaiting carrier assignment." Being on the East Coast (US) I'm hoping for delivery next week. Don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, but that was quick!
Here's what's coming: - X3 M40i - Phytonic Blue Metallic - 20" M Double-spoke bi-color wheels, style 699M with performance run-flat tires - Oyester Vernasca Leather with contrast stitching - Carbon Fiber trim - Parking Assistance Package - Premium Package - Adaptive M Suspension - Acoustic glass - Ambient lighting - Wireless Charging and WiFi Hotspot - Harman Kardon surround sound system Looks like everyone else went for the Driving Assistance Package, but I really don't want my car wrestling me for control of the steering wheel/brakes. Here's a 2018 with the same color combo & wheels (my new wallpaper) |

As far as worrying about driver assistant wrestling away 'control' of the car, that is driver assistant PLUS. Driver assistant is only passive stuff, FYI. Nice job on adding adaptive.

Fell in love after my first test drive yesterday, and put my order in. The experience so far has been far better than any other car buying experience I've ever had. Never considered BMW until recently, but they won me over in a hurry.
- X3 M40i - Carbon Black Metallic - 21" M wheel 718M w/perf rft - Cognac Vernasca Leather with contrast stitching - Fineline Cove Matte Wood Trim - Executive Package - Driver Assistance Plus - Acoustic Glass - Harmon Kardon Audio - Wireless Charging / WiFi Hotspot Pretty much just shy of fully loaded. |

Have you considered the adaptive suspension? I can't recommend that enough. |

But, you can turn the features off in the settings if you want to. Here's the configurator description: "Active Driving Assistant is comprised of active safety features such as: Lane Departure Warning, Pedestrian and Frontal Collision Warning with City Collision Mitigation. All provide varying degrees of automated braking assistance based on speed conditions. Important: This feature is not a substitute for the driver's own responsibility. Due to road, traffic and visibility conditions, the driver decides whether and how the system is used." The difference between that and the $1700 DA+ pkg is the addition of adaptive cruise control. |

I was wondering about the other poster's info on that. I had a 2020 330i loaner a while back and I felt the steering wheel vibrate as I crossed onto a yellow line around a curve, so I purposely went over it to experiment (safely--no opposing traffic) and the car did push me back into my lane, and did so much more sharply than I would've done on my own. I was going about 40-45mph. Long story short, I didn't like it & am glad I didn't get it on my M40i.

My dealer told me of a test drive where he overtook a cyclist and didn't indicate in time as he didn't see the rider until the last minute. Car decided to pull him pack towards to cyclist which caused a "squeaky bum" moment for everyone. As a cyclist, that story decided my spec and it does not include DA+, just the DA and Active Cruise/ASS options (which in the UK work out a couple of hundred pounds cheaper than the full DA+).

That is one of many scenarios in which these active "safety" systems make things more dangerous, not more safe. It is not possible to code these systems to understand that sometimes crossing center lines is proper and should not be interfered with. Keep your eyes on the road, both hands on the wheel, and your cell phone in your pocket where it belongs. Do that and you'll be far safer than any expensive and unnecessary technology can make you. When I buy or lease my X3, it will have NONE of this garbage.

My first post here too. My wife and I ordered our new car last week (well, hers really as she drives and I just sit in the passenger seat drinking coffee!). Not had a BMW since we had an E30 1991 320i back in the day. Currently have a MB GLC which we have been very happy with but got seduced by the great deals on UK X3 PCP at the moment and ordered:
BMW X3 xDrive20d xLine Sophisto Grey Canberra Beige leather Premium package, incl: Panoramic sunroof Electric front seats and drivers memory Comfort package, incl: Steering wheel heating Comfort access 19” Non-RFT Y-spoke alloys Sun protection glass Apparently due here in week 52, so hopefully it will be a niceChristmas present for us! I'm not really a fan of carbon fiber, I dunno why. I think I just don't like small patterns on hard surfaces like that (not a fan of the rhombicle either). I hadn't originally specced the adaptive suspension because of the added replacement costs but then I figured I would definitely be getting my money's worth on Bay Area roads. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the acoustic glass. I don't do very much high speed highway driving so I think regular will be just fine. For some reason I find having thicker glass kinda off-putting (I experienced many a bulletproof vehicle in my childhood and the windows barely rolled down in agony). My E90 is definitely on the loud side (run-flats wearing out?) and I'm fine with it even on long road trips. In any case, it's too late, as my car is now "awaiting carrier assignment"!! So much for a first week of Nov build slot! When should I be expecting the car to be at the dealer? I need to start prepping a sale for the E90! |
