May not be relevant but have xenon's on my 2011 M3 and no washers. Those were an option if you added the cold weather package. Never had a problem with overheating xenon's.

My last car had this too - if you soaked the windshield longer than a second it started washing the headlights and spraynig the front of your car in the process.

Was far more annoying than the benefit it may have provided.

I'm slowly working my way thru the 50+ pages of this thread so both these items might have been covered, but wanted to add a couple of things I found recently.

There was a question about getting radio Presets to stay active rather than defaulting to the entire range. If you press the speech command, and say "Presets", she will ask you to make a selection on the main display, then after that presets stay active on the HUD display when you press the scroll button. I assume also in the main screen but didn't try that.

The other item was the angle of the reversing mirror not being adjustable. Turns out it is to some degree, no pun intended. I was doing a little coding today with Bimmercode and came upon a menu that allows you to choose what percentage of angle the right side mirror defaults to when in reverse. I picked 70% and that seems about right, for me at least. This gives me a better view backwards rather that almost straight down. YMMV

If you have your foot on the brake when you shut the car off the radio will continue to play. Just press the off button on the radio and everything will shut down

Looks like we don't have that option in the iDrive 7.
How do I put the odometer on my dashboard to see the trip meter?

Thanks

Last Sunday, I took a friend of my on a ride in my new X3-30e. During the ride, I did not set any destination on Nav. Control display was set to show BMW map. I did not listen to any music either. We were enjoying the ride and talking about many things, then finally we started to discuss about BMW cars. As we mentioned BMW, the car responded with "Hello, how can I help you?". We laughed and my friend said to her "I love you". She responded "I did not understand, can you say again?" My friend said, "I love you and thank you". Next, the control display was changed from the map to show up a love song from my USB stick. We were so surprised and let the song playing, and laughing all the way home.

Keep pressing the BC button on the stalk until you see the "Individual" trip meter. iD7 keeps a separate track on your mileage every time you refuel it seems. You can find that data in the trip data section. No more having to push a reset button to measure the miles you get from a tank of gas. That said, as far as I know, there is no way to show that meter on the instrument cluster - only the individual trip meter (which you can use like the manual button).

Not sure if covered before, but on my non Comfort Access model if I use the tailgate release on the actual tailgate not on the key fob, and squeeze the button again mid travel it stops in the position it was when the button was squeezed again. Handy if you have limited space behind the vehicle or you need access to the load area whilst car is in garage and you don't want the tailgate to hit the garage door or anything above the vehicle.

Useful to know. After reading this I played with this feature, and found it works when you open the tailgate with the fob too. 1st press to open, 2nd press stops it where you want (as per the Op's post) and 3rd, long press, closes it again.

Pretty sure you can set how far the boot opens from iDrive as well.

now that hot days are here (downunder) I realise that having the AC switched on adds noticeable delay to throttle response....almost dangerously so.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned before, but when I went on an errand yesterday, I noticed that the temperature gauge additionally showed the word “cold” next to the gauge itself until the temperature reached the normal operating range.

Definitely a nice reminder to take it easy on the accelerator until the engine warms up.

I'll have a look tomorrow but I'm sure it doesn't show the "cold" text in my M40d. Could it be it's only the petrol variants.?

I think you get the cold indication in cars with the full digital dash and iDrive 7.
