My order went in a couple of weeks ago; I assume the first cars will go out to all the dealers as demos. After that? I also wonder whether BMW will ship the first cars out of the country, and hold up US deliveries until all the dealers worldwide have one or more.

Did anybody receive a little pamphlet from BMW containing an "X3 Loyalty" upgrade offer, in which they offer you a $1,500 loyalty credit and give you 3 options to upgrade to a newer (and/or higher-end) X-model from your current lease?
Option 1.) Extend your current X3 lease with BMW Financial Services for up to 6 months, and then take delivery of an all-new 2018 BMW X3 using your $1,500 Loyalty Credit. Option 2.) Use your $1,500 Loyalty Credit now to get a great value on a new 2017 BMW X3. Option 3.) Use your $1,500 Loyalty Credit to upgrade to a new 2017 or 2018 BMW X4, X5, or X6. Talked to my local dealer, and he received the pamphlet as well (he's currently leasing a 2016 X3) and he was confused by it -- he said that this specific offer is unusual. Looking at Option #1, it would seem as though they worded it to convey that you can “trade-in” your current X3 and extend your lease by a few months in order to upgrade to the 2018 X3. If this is the case, I'd definitely like to get my hands on the online ordering capability to check things out. Any thoughts? Is the pamphlet offering you the option to trade-in your current lease for a 2018? |

1) Pretty sure that means if your current lease is expiring you can extend it until a new X3 is in your hands.
2) Lease/buy the car when you can get it with loyalty credit 3) Move up model line |

Yeah looked into it, and it appears that the offer only applies if your lease is maturing within the next few months. It would've been nice if BMW specified that within the pamphlet, but no worries!

Remain puzzled by the delay in the US website becoming active, especially with the Euro site active for weeks? As we are in the ordering phase it could help clarify some of the confusion out there, such as what is available for sure with 'Individual', the trailer hitch (also having trouble getting it added to our M40i order whereas it seems it can be ordered on the 30i), and provide more concrete information on the packages and options for the US market. No doubt they have a reason for such (maybe trying to sell off the remaining 2nd gen models?), but it would help if active now.

BMW South Africa site updated with M40i in case anyone wants an English site to play with: https://www.bmw.co.za/en/ssl/configu...B/G01/esl/new/
UK site still only showing 20d and 30d |

Adding 4FH Front Ventilated Seats deletes the Sport Seats. The system tells you this and you can visibly see the different seats when you go back to the view of the interior. I just emailed my dealer and asked if that is the same for the USA. If so, I told him to remove 4FH from my order. I don't want to lose the Sport Seats. |

It also offered a chance to view the vehicle from above-angles while in the 360 degree build, which I hadn't really appreciated from all of the horizontal side-front-back images we've been seeing. The aerodynamic lines look more striking and refined when viewed in this light it seems. {Attribution - bmw.co.za/en/ssl/configu...} |

Bear in mind some X3s will be built in BMW's South Africa factory (and the China factory). Not sure if that's going to make any difference or if they are just for different markets.

Just had a go on the South African BMW X3 configurator and the price is crazy! 1M Rand (£56k) for the basic spec M40 is about £5k more that what I'm hoping the UK entry price will be. It's almost as bad as the German price.

EDIT: I just looked. Option 481 Sport seats shows as STD for both 30i and M40i in the USA... so I'm not sure that there even is an alternative seat available for the US market? |

So this remains the problem until we get our US site up. I'm not sure what other markets have as options will even be available to us. There must be a region-specific option list, possibly based on local laws (?), so hopefully they'll get our site up soon. Hard to believe there is that much difference in cultural preferences for BMW Enthusiasts around the globe, but maybe there is?

Adding 4FH on the German configurator removes the Sport seats as well, so I'm guessing that's adds the limitation on the leather options. It looks like when ventilation is added, it defaults back to the standard seat, which isn't normally available in the US since they've made the Sport seats standard.

I'm wondering if they might be holding off on the configurator until dealerships move some leftover X3's.
