I just got my 2022 X3 a few months ago and half the time I drive it, my phone keeps disconnecting and reconnecting every 10-15 seconds to the point where I just disconnect entirely and don't use apple CarPlay or my music. I took it to the dealership and they basically just advised me to run the latest software on my phone and reset the head unit. This seemed to fix it for a day but then it was back to usual. I'm so frustrated with this but I don't know what else I can do. Is anyone having this issue? Is there anything I can do to help prevent it from disconnecting?

Carplay connects to your phone via wifi. Are you using the wifi on your phone for any other purpose?

If that's not the case, then there might be something else going on. Just wanted to rule that out as a first check.

You can play music via Bluetooth and/or USB with your phone, but AFAIK, CarPlay itself can only be connected via wifi in the X3/X4. Someone correct me if I am mistaken.

This is correct. CarPlay is via WiFi only… USB only charges… even without wifi, I believe Music is thru BT, not the USB. (I guess technically, you could turn off your BT and connect via USB and see if it will still use it as music player… I'm guessing it would).

Next dumb question, if I may - using the adaptive cruise control in traffic. When the car in front slows to a stop my car will do the same. When the car in front drives off, it seems to be random whether my car will follow on its own or will wait for me to tap the accelerator.
It doesn't seem to depend on the length of time standing still. Any insights? |

BMW connected drive specifically state that Bluetooth and WiFI have to be activated/active for Carplay connections. Bluetooth alone does not have sufficient bandwidth to support the more data hungry apps. |

If the new phone works OK without disconnecting regularly, then the problem seems to be with your phone. Maybe reset it back to factory settings, and set it all up again? |

Spotify subscription via connected drive app will work through car internal sim, so no mobile necessary. Internal sim provides data/connection for iDrive apps, S.O.S, concierge system, nav updates etc and if you buy subscription also WiFI hotspot. If you run Spotify via your phone using Carplay or android auto then it will use phone sim for data.
