It would be interesting to have someone make this coding change and then get it coded with eSYS and see if there is any difference.

I've attempted this on my 2018 X3 with Adaptive LED (Pre-LCI) without any success. I'm not sure if I should have been expecting it to work on my (older) car, but here's my experience in case it helps others...
I attempted to code this using Esys and Bimmer Code with similar results. The blue headlight icon will remain lit in most cases where it would have turned off while using auto-dimming high beams, but my headlights would not illuminate the area in front of my cars as others were passing by (as it should). I plan to remove the coding soon as it does not appear to be working as some of the videos I've seen. |

Don’t know if it’s just the photo, but the shadow area looks wider than I usually see, and my lights project further beyond the car in front.

I suppose some of it could be the picture as I took it on the move but that peripheral part of the light beam is the part that I've never impressed with. Just seems not very bright. But also I think your lights are brighter than ours in the US because of our stupid government regulations So not sure if that might be affecting it also.

Seems like that will be super slow in coming for some reason just like everything else related to the government. I can't tell if it's fully through the government or if there are some things that still need to be done. Otherwise I don't know why car manufacturers wouldn't just send and OTA update and enable it.

I need help understanding the high beam blue light behavior. I understand what was said in the directions, that it'll be on while the anti-dazzle is functioning.
However, sometimes, I see mine still turns off, even when above the speed actuation point. I THINK it turns off when all of the array is off for some reason..., such as a lot of traffic on a busy highway, but I'm not sure. Looking for confirmation that the blue light turning off under certain conditions is normal.

Yup, you're correct! The blue light will turn off when nearby ambient lighting is enough for you to see. I believe if the headlight sensor measures enough light in your direct area it will turn off the anti-dazzle and therefore the blue light in the instrument cluster. This is how it works on my '23 M40i, as best I can tell/notice. Last edited by ContactPatch; 01-10-2024 at 10:35 PM.. |

It worked this way even before enabling anti-dazzle. If the light sensor doesn't think you need your highbeams, they will be off (and the gauge cluster light will be off as well).

Has anyone tried this on other cars? I assume it would work the same on my M8 as it would on the X3?

Press the high beam assist button on the stalk and the green headlight with an A should illuminate as below. The blue main beam indicator illuminates automatically when high beam is on. |

I believe what others said was they could 'see' the option but it doesn't work when selected. Doesn't bimmercode reset the idrive after coding? Or at least i could see it being rebooted.
