Sorry, but I do not understand what you ask.

The Controller is a straight swap, with a connector. Disconnect old one, and plug in new one.

Ok. It is the Handwriting Module (TBX module) that you need to splice / wire in.

TBX should come with 4 wires on it. Power, Ground, CAN+, and CAN-. Just need to splice them in.

I have the cable and all the software loaded on my laptop thanks to excellent help of the major contributors to this forum. No one in the Syracuse area has responded to another post for someone in this area that has done this before so I am going to to do it myself.
I would appreciate help with the following questions as I obviously want to minimize the chance of screwing something up. 1-Please verify tire pressure and temperature requre changing parameter in two modules: HU_CIC and NU_NBT. In both modules the parameter is RCD_SAFETY. 2-Please verify the digital mph display is a single parameter in module KOMBI. The parameter is BC_DIGITAL_V 3-Please verify to use GPS speed (instead of an analog input) change parameter BC_V_KORREKTUR in the KOMBI module. 4-What is the module/parameter for having the fog lights remain on when the high beams are on? I am only interested in the four functions listed above although I would very much like to also find what controls the time delay to off for the rear window heater. I wonder what the German is for "Rear Window" and if there is a way for searching for these words. I have not yet used the software yet so I do not know if there is a search function that will globally search through all the modules for these words. Last edited by RhoXS; 05-08-2014 at 11:38 AM.. |

2) Yes. 3) This is supposed to remove the Speedometer Advancement: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=985 That said, I do not think speed calculation is actually GPS based. I am sure like any other electronic speedometer, it works on drive shaft rotation, which should then mirror a GPS speed calculation based on doppler shift. 4) In F10 it is FRM => NSW_AUS_BEI_FL = nicht_aktiv/ Not sure about F25. Yes, E-Sys has a search bar, but understand it works only from top down (so always start at top of CAFD) and make sure you have no leading or trailing spaces in your search term.

OK, Due to the outstanding guide at the beginning of this article, I had no problem working my way ready to alter the codes and found I need a PIN number. Where does one find this all important PIN number please?
Was very frustrating to get to third base, so to speak, and not make it home. |

What E-Sys version are you using and where did you get it?

Received cable and all software on a USB memory device from April One earlier this week. Using E-Sys 3.24.3 and PsdZData 52.2. I installed it all manually instead of using the automated installer on the USB memory device without any problem. Everything works fine, backed up the original files and tried to modify a code when it asked for the PIN. It is obviously reading the patch because it knows my name and the expiration date. Checked all emails, messages on this board, and various files on the USB memory device but could not find the PIN.

I made my first successful (sorta) foray into the world of coding last night. I resolved the issue with the password (user error) and was able to find and modify values. My sincere thanks to Coder and April One for their patience and efforts.
Although I was able to modify the required parameters, I did not get the results I was looking for. My main target was to enable the display of tire pressure and temperature. According to the “cheat sheets”, two modules need modification; 1) HU_CIC and 2) NU_NBT. I found HU_CIC and successfully modified the associated RCD_SAFETY. I was not able to find NU_NBT so obviously the associated RCD_SAFETY did not get modified. The display now shows the units for pressure and temperature for each tire but only a couple of dashes are displayed in place of the numeric values. I am assuming modifying HU_CIC formatted the display to include the units and NU-NBT would have made the data be displayed. Why do I not have NU_NBT? My X3 is a 2011 28i with the 02VB Tire Pressure Monitor. The stems are not rubber so I am certain I have the system that does transmit actual pressures and temperatures. I also reset the display, let the car sit overnight, all to no avail. I would certainly appreciate more insight to resolve this problem. |

It is HU_CIC OR HU_NBT, not both. Every car comes only with one Head Unit. CIC is for earlier Fxx builds, and NBT is in newer Fxx builds.
For RCD_SAFETY to work, the car must be equipped with Option 2VB, Tyre pressure control (TPC). After coding, the car has to be driven a few hundred feet before PSI and Temp values will populate.

Thanks for that clarification.
That does explain why I have only HU_CIC. I also checked the purchase documents and it does indeed have Option 02VB. Drove it almost 8 miles to work this morning but still does not populate with data although the units are displayed for each tire now. Will try going back into it tonight and seeing what I can see. |

CIC Firmware may be too old.

http://www.f30post.com/forums/showpo...postcount=1403 It is updated via Dealer Programming, else you have to flash the Head Unit with E-Sys, and you run the risk of Bricking it.

I-Step (current): F025-13-07-506
I-Step (last & shipment): F025-11-03-512 Not sure but last October when I complained about some drivability issues the local BMW dealer updated a number of the software modules. I suspect that is when the current I-Step version was installed as it appears to have a July, 2013 date if I interpret it correctly. I also bought the car in July, 2013 as a CPO so I do not know if it is connected to that. The car was manufactured in Sept 2011. |
