I didn't take any photos, sorry! Might still be there tomorrow. I may swing by to have a look. I will take pics of Kouta's car though when it gets to BMW Melb. Might need Kouta's permission to go look at it before him haha.

Have to say that I might have gone over the top just a little, but I basically wanted all the good stuff from an X5 innovations in a smaller package.
So, here's what I have:- 30D M-Sport in Alpine White 02NE - 19" Double Spoke 369M 03AH - Top View 0522 - Bi-Xenons 0502 - Headlight Washers 04CH - Fineline Wave trim 0609 - Pro Nav 0563 - Extended Lights Pkg 0614 - Internet 0225 - Sports Suspension Delete 0403 - Int & Ext Mirrors - Ant-Dazzle & Ext Folding 0402 - Panoramic Sunroof 06NK - Extended Connectivity BT/USB Here's hoping that everything is in/on the car. Seems like a lot of opportunities for the build process to have stuffed-up...... |

I didn't go for the variable suspension as I have it on an Audi A4 at present and have barely used it in 3 years. not doubting it's value, just not for me. Apart from that, I was pushing $100k which I didn't want to exceed. The main thing is that the 30d is going to be a sweet-handling torque-monster rocket-ship, and everything else is a bonus... I will be sure to post a quick "first-drive" review over the weekend. |

A 30d m is available at a Sydney dealership. I took it for a test drive on sat. My wife literally almost sh.... ed herself when I gave it a bit. It drives awesome and whoever has ordered a 30d will love it. Best choice. I had previously taken a 28i drive for a drive. No comparison at all. The 30 d had the dampness on it- you can really fell the diff between modes. I reckon worth the additional $$$. Only thing that will take getting used to is the start stop feature - I will most likely disable.

30d M-Sport - First Thoughts....
I took delivery of my 30d M-Sport @ 5:30pm last Friday from Westside BMW in Brisbane, and was only able to drive it until Sunday before I had to get on a plane for a week-long business trip. I've only managed to clock-up 250km so far....
One-word summary of the experience so far:- WOW! The first thing that hit me when driving home from the dealer was that the performance, even without exceeding 3000rpm was just great. Grin-inducingly good. Everything works, no defects, and importantly, whilst pix of the M-Sport made the 19" rims look a little small, in reality they don't seem undersized to me. One surprise - even though I didn't order the DHP (or whatever its called) my car definitely has the Normal/Sport/Sport+ adjustable settings. I played around with it briefly just to prove/disprove its inclusion, and its definitely there. Sales guy says its now standard on M-Sport, although this isn't reflected on the website. So, a bonus there. Normal mode is easily comfortable enough for everyday use, and the handling, so far, is excellent. The reversing camera and TopView are excellent. My 190cm 15yo son has plenty of space in the back seat (and a big smile) and I have plenty of space in the front. I'm a bit of a fatty so I was a little worried that the Sports seats might be uncomfortable / too small in the backrest / width areas, but they are fine. I can't wait to get home on Friday night and go for a longer drive on the weekend. I will post some more detailed thoughts once the woo-hoo factor wears off. Its hard to be totally objective about the X3 just now..... Love it. Will try to get some pix up too. |

Good to hear you are enjoying it Malfunction.
I took the 30d m sport demo out for 24 hours from westside. That was enough to sell it for me. The accelerative power is more than you need in any 4WD, the performance control really pulls the car around the corners. Even the ride is great - better than the X5 40d ride in my opinion. When I handed it back, one of the sales team who shall remain nameless took it out for a lap of an industrial Estate. I followed in the Z4 to see how fast he took it. While I could keep up with it, on the up hill sweeping corner, i found the X3 was comfortably accelerating away while i was starting to slip the back end out and sliding around the corner. I just didn't have the grip and cornering ability of the X3. Very impressive. The hardest part is putting up with the Kluger until November.

Tonsberg is en route to Fremantle via Brisbane/Port Kembla, and Melbourne arriving on 10 July. Anticipation is building as I await my wife's 3.0d. Looking forward to the power delivery in the lighter package. Sounds impressive so far in the short reviews above. Cheers guys

First post. We placed our order for a 30d in May with - at that time - an expected delivery in late August/early September. Heard last week it was in production in June and therefore the VIN number shouln't be to far off. From receipt of the VIN number I was told delivery is usually 6-8 weeks away depending on variables such as shipping schedules. So looks to be on time for the original estimated delivery time.
This will be our first BMW and it was a long road to get here. I come from a history of Audi and most recently Volvo, and up until early this year, was looking at a XC60 D5. In the end it was the avialability of the 30d for the Australian market that made the difference. If the comparison had been with the 20d, we would have most likely stayed with the Volvo. The 30d costs somewhat more but I figure we'll get most of that back in better resale. Looking forward to sharing my experiences when it arrives. Tony |
