Did you get your panro roof warranty investigation sorted or are they still arguing it was caused when fitting non approved door speakers ?

I don't know what was worse - the fact that they tried to swerve going for the roof because "they thought the noise was coming from the door" then realised I had upgraded speakers (I told them they were "shite" also so why would one not). Anyhow they eventually conceded their train of though was stupid.
So yes they looked at the roof, although like many times and cars in the past they didn't fix it. I'm seriously thinking if I get another car not getting a sunroof. |

I'm shocked at how many people post issues with parts fading or seals shrinking over a very short period of time. Certainly puts me off owning a BMW, no chance of one out of warranty. It feels like BMW now produces cars that now last 1-2 years tops. Cheaper to save money upfront by using reduced quality designs or components, and fix via warranty if an owner cares enough about it. 1. I’m in Canada 2. The dealer is a bit away from my reach but that’s not the issue. They are very “less helpful”. I had to get my front passenger side ambient light replaced as it was significantly dim from the rest and it took 4 visits just to get it addressed and fixed. Even then, I have a note on the Job order saying “observe and report”. If i go in for any rattles, squeaks or anything the dealership always claims “they cannot replicate the sound” and all it takes me is to go back on the route home. Funny when I asked them to drive on the same route home they said “we won’t drive that road just to test a squeak”. 3. I do have warranty that just expired as well as extended warranty. However the dealer did mention that since my car is very low in kms, “some things can be addressed under goodwill”. At this point it’s getting pretty frustrating as I have quite a bit of door rattles and on the other side I can’t deafen myself with music either. For now, at least the CG-Precisions downpipe keeps me happy when I put my foot down. |

But here’s the thing, when the bass kicks in, the crackling sound is gone. It’s more so the vocals. This week, i even turned down the sound settings in -ve and found that even at full volume i can’t get rid of that crackling sound. I was going to code in the b&w preset just to see if the issue lingers on but that will only worsen the situation if I have to get it addressed by the dealer. |

Apparently, there was some change made to this gasket/pads used, and the solution is to swap the gasket/pads. Based on the reports this appears to have helped with the resonance issue, but it’s still possible to have faulty speakers. https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...9&postcount=14 |

IIRC pre ID7 HK around the age you mention uses a digital MOST connected amp/DSP in the trunk. ID7 introduced the Receiver Audio Module (RAM), and whilst the module is also trunk mounted, it’s different beast. |

If it happens all the time on every speaker it’s likely to be amp/DSP related, rather than all the speakers being faulty, unless you’re very unlucky. Is there any resonance from the speaker/trim that goes away if you apply pressure around the speaker using your hand ? Basically, it’s a process of elimination. |
