again, if you're going to do this, just buy the part numbers listed. G8x/F9x brakes will NOT fit unless you are buying used and they have the brackets included/installed.

The title of this thread (which I didn't start but added to) should say X5M to X3M brake conversion to clear up any confusion. The current gen X5M brake are the ONLY 6-piston OEM / Brembo units that are a direct bolt on with the corresponding brackets to make these massive 6-piston units fit on the F97 / F98 platform. Although it's pretty obvious is still should be mentioned, you will also have to buy the corresponding X5M or M5 brake pads too + the new 4 bolts. I went with the M5 brake pad set because the weight of the M5 is a lot closer to the X3 M then then big beefy X5 M is.
Like many others have said, all the info you need can be found in this thread. Simply read carefully. I cannot wait to finally get these bolted up soon. I've been sitting on this nice upgrade for over a year. As you already know, the obligations of daily life often come flooding in & can get in the way sometimes!

Have someone actually done this now? Can someone confirm that the F95 calipers come with the correct brackets? I am on the fence to order the F95 calipers now but would be nice to be 100% sure

Yes, the current gen X5 M calipers are a direct plug & play upgrade. You just need the 4 main corresponding bolts + new brake pads (from the M5 or X5 M). Look this stuff up on RealOemParts & you should have all the additional info you need.

I know you & many others (including myself) are dying to see these on. And I'll make sure to deliver on my promise soon. The weather has not worked out in my favor this week. But I'm pulling to finally get this project completed. I simply need to see how quickly I can get all 4 rotors zinc washed / plated. Hopefully they can do a 24 hour turn around so I don't have to pay the shop additional fees to keep my car on the rack. Fingers crossed for project completion & some sick photos (before & after install) soon!

Beating this dead horse even more dead. The part you have quoted above (34108746107) has been superseded. The new part # is 34107886853 for the X5M. These below are for the 2022 M5, front pads. Which ones are you quoting/suggesting/planning on using? |

Since we're using X5M or M5 brake pads, we need to use X5M or M5 brake pad wear sensors, correct?

It's simply the caliper bracket on the X5 M caliper that can't get anywhere else. Hope this all makes sense!

Opinions? Quote:
I think I got all the I's dotted, so I'll start planning on buying the smaller pieces and leave the calipers to the end since those are the ones that seem to be increasing in price the least. It also helps that the ultimate service+ I have will be replacing the OEs later this year, so I can pace myself with the rest of the parts. Thanks again, appreciate the patience and info. Thanks for trailblazing this for us... Last edited by TacosRule!; 03-05-2023 at 12:57 AM.. |

I thought all break pads built today were asbestos free. I would get whichever part number is the newest & supersedes the previous part number.

Even people in Germany know about the X5 M to X3 M brake upgrade & briefly mentions it here!
