Interesting. In any case its still an issue that needs to be resolved by them.

I shared some emails with them, with bimmercode, told bcode the only reason I bought protool was because they (bcode) didnt do the lighting/VO stuff. Dude said he would pass the request forward.

Yeah. Same bunch of stuff I received. Which didn't fix mine. Hopefully your outcome is better. They were usually rather prompt on replies.

They have been pretty responsive on their FB group page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/BimmerGeeksProTool/

Might be better to ask there since it is also visible to all the members of the group?

For all intents and purposes BimmerUtility is an esys clone, with a nicer front end, so it will definitely do it. I haven't checked if they have a preset function for AntiDazzle yet, but they do have a handful of others which are handy.

I cant get VLD/Anti-dazzle to stick. I go thru the motions of modifying the VO, removing 5AP and 8S4 (I never showed the latter), then running the anti-dazzle step 1 step.

It says it flashes, saves config and clears errors, but the status of the option keeps saying disabled. I emailed protool so hopefully they'll reply back sometime this year. I have found it very frustrating to deal with them lately.
Just to clarify, are the issues with coding Anti-Dazzle related to 11.2023 or 03.2024.19?

The issue is the protools app, it has issues using the autocoding based on the email replies from them.

I was able to code Anti-dazzle using Protools on March 20, 2024 after flashing to stock first for my service appt on Mar 20, 2024. Basically VO, which took care of BDC and Kafas and then set the enhanced functionality without issues. So either the app has changed or the new software on the car is preventing the app from working as it used to. I am still on 11/2022.60.

Good point GL. I was on 11.2022 when I had the ram/amp blow up, but I was coded and the wizards worked. I was upgraded to 03.2024 and the wizards no longer work. I would like to assume that there is a mixture of the new march istep and the protools app to where stuff doesnt quite work anymore.

After every OTA update, and losing anti dazzle coding, I'm tired of paying again to have my car coded remotely.
So given the choice for coding anti dazzle and VLD, is Bimmergeeks Protool or BimmerUtility better? I have Bimmercode and it doesn't really do it. But I knew that when I bought the app a few years ago.

I use protool exclusively for vld/dazzle, everything else i want done i do it in bimmercode. Havent seen bimmerutility in action but looking at the pictures, i think you'll like protool better, once they fix their wizard setup for Anti-D

I asked Bimmergeeks about coding anti dazzle and VLD and they said they code it same way esys would by adjusting the vehicle order and letting the app factory code the modules we calculate need recoding.

So is it a 1 step process or way more involved?

Look at my post with their email reply further up this thread. Normally its:

1) Change Vehicle Order (VO) and remove 5AP option
2) App factory coded the HEADUNIT and BDC
3) In BDC coding, there is a popular option to enable Anti-Dazzle (Step 1).

Per their support, this toggles various options in the ECU

4) In KAFAS coding, enable Anti-Dazzle Improved Dynamics

Their tech support also said that VLD (variable light distribution) can be coded back in if it is decoded (8S4). All the snapshots of the options in protool are in this thread.

I never tried this on the X3.

I did it with my Protools on 2 other X3's after the recent update with no issues..... not sure why people have so many problems.

on another note, i'm curious if these two values can be changed for the antidazzle to work at lower speeds, living in the mountains of PA it's pitch black and some areas i don't even get past 20mph because it's narrow and lots of blind corners and wild animals. it's annoying when the lights keep going from antidazzle to dipped beam every few seconds.

I currently have the OTA 11-2023 update on my idrive 7 X5M. So the protool app may not be able to code anti-dazzle and VLD back into my car?

Wondered that myself. I'm gonna poke around in esys and adjust those values since 40mph by me is just too high for the vld/anti dazzle to work.
