My 20 M40i battery dies if it is not driven for about 1 week. It will be completely drained. Every 3-4 days I would get the battery insufficiently charged message.
I lock the car at when not driving so to attempt to shut down the electronics. Even after a full day of driving I can hook up the battery charger and it will be at 25% and go back to 100% over night.

suby01 - Yep. our 2021 X3 is doing this. Battery was swapped twice, and the car is dead by day 4.

Tech is leaning toward pulling the cluster and then observing the issue as I type.

My X3MC was showing message "replace battery" on delivery. Tech said it was normal and would go away, needless to say 4 days later it didn't. I brought it back in and they swapped out the battery after troubleshooting.
I don't understand how on an $84k car this is such an issue. My theory was that someone did not shut down the car properly and it was left on for days
I still make sure to always lock my car in the garage to make sure all electronics are off

Started with the gauge cluster going dead. (Fixed with disconnecting the battery and reconnecting).
Now the car is dead. Voltage measured 6v.

It's hooked up to a CTEK 4.3 to get power to it for the service call tomorrow.

Car is doing fine. No issues with the battery at all.

OK here's the verdict on our 2021 X3... bad Kombi Unit. Radio was OK, cluster was OK, batteries (2) were OK. The Kombi wasn't turning off the connected accessories on engine off and draining power.

Fun way to trouble shoot this:
1. Gauge cluster died? Disconnect battery in trunk - if cluster returns, might be Kombi
2. Radio dying or whackey? Disconnect battery in trunk - if radio returns, might be Kombi
3. IDrive or nav whacky? Disconnect battery in trunk - if idrive or nav returns, might be Kombi
4. Battery voltage drops - I observed 12.4v on night, by next morning 11.4v, might be Kombi.

Hope this helps out someone on a search!

Just happened to me. 2021 x3M with 3000 miles. Battery randomly dead. hopefully it's no big deal.

Battery dead @ 7Kmi.... Trip A comes... Modern clip on diagnostic equipment used says, "dead battery" .... Printed me the diagnosis out saying that ... Head to dealership ... Can't use Trip A's analysis .... Put it on their plug & play.... " Nothing wrong"...Two weeks later, after several jumps ... Went to dealership & did what I had feared most, shut it off ... SA comes out to pull it into service ... dead... nothing... usual dead gauge cluster... Replaced battery...Two weeks later, same symptoms..... Took it in ..hmmm...Yikes..factory bulletin say..."Not coded correctly @ delivery"...Coded correctly now.... Months later, I still allow for disappointment pushing the start button...
