Ooooo doesn't look as aggressive as I'd hoped. Might have to pass for now, unless it looks different in person.

Second, what's not a big enough difference? how the exterior looks? what matters most in a M is how it drives! this thing is going to have 100 more hp and torque than the upgraded X3 M40i engine along with tons of other performance enhancements, that's what you are paying for. Not to mention I am guessing the interior will be an upgrade, option for full leather and M seats (hopefully!). |

Very underwhelming. Looks pretty much the same as the X3 M40. At the very least they should've added the fender strips from the previous gen X5 that made the car carry a much more aggressive stance. The lines of the X3 in base form weren't aggressive to begin with. The overall body seemed to almost taper in at the bottom as opposed to flaring out. Given they didn't modify that for the X3M is just ridiculous IMO.
Also, I believe this X3M won't be around for but a year and a half before it receives the LCI update, which should be due mid-2020. With what we've seen with the latest design language in general, and the significant LCI update for the 7 series, I wouldn't be surprised if the X3 LCI gets a big overhaul in the front grill of the car. I feel like the X3 and X4 are now the only models whose design just don't fit with the rest of the lineup (and that may not be a bad thing). |

But in the context of that discussion, they were discussing the painted wheel arch "extensions" and how it relates to the X3 M. In that department, the M Sport and M40i models are different, but same same.

I've always loved the X3 since the e83 and personally I think the new one is the best all around vehicle BMW makes. I am looking forward to the F97 over the over complicated G80/G82.

I am 90% sure I'll be picking up one of these at the Performance Center and driving it home across the country once my M4 lease is up. Can't wait!

Yeah I was contacted last Friday to take part in the 1 week launch trip through a special part of the USA this summer. Not seeing one in the flesh ahead of time and the fact that there are speed limits down there has me leaning against.
