Ok thanks guys the screenshots helped immensely and mine does not look like your screenshots.
When I go into the ECU list, my KAFAS always shows up, I go into it, click on coding and I do not get the normal view where you have Popular and Expert at the top (I do on other control units) but for KAFAS I only get expert mode with no choice at the top and the popular option doesn't show at all, I was looking for the name of the popular option in expert mode and it doesn't exist I guess as it isn't actually called that. So does anyone have any idea why I would be missing the popular options and the choice in protool. Mine only looks like this when I go into KAFAS.

Have you tried updating files at the base menu? When I click on KAFAS, I get an option to merge files or go into each one. I see 2 CAFD files. I'm using their BT adapter btw.
I also checked what options are actually changed on mine compared to factory and 4 changes came up. You could search in expert mode and see if you can find these parameters and set each one per the image.

Thanks super helpful, I did try to update files, I tried each CAFD file individually and merged and all the same. I think it may be related to other issues I have where it throws an error identifying the vehicle also - overall not happy with the fire 7 I bought, so I have ordered a samsung device to try it with also. I am using an ethernet thor eithernet adapter which works for flashing just fine. I think maybe because it can't identify the vehicle it won't show me any specific popular coding perhaps. I asked bimmergeeks also and they didn't immediately know what this might be either - they told me KAFAS only had expert mode actually which I can see is incorrect from your screenshots, but will see tomorrow when the samsung comes.
Worst case thanks for the actual coding that the popular option runs as it is simple enough to just do it manually if nothing else, I have seen those settings when looking around so I am sure those are there.

roadkillrob have you tried the beta version of the app? In the play store you can sign up for it immediately and get the beta version.
Fwiw, that is the version I'm on 2.52.2

The issue still persists where I have no Popular mode on KAFAS - seems to be there on every other module, just not KAFAS. I tried the beta version, I tried my thor adapter, I tried an ethernet adapter and either net cable and all things work great just no popular mode. So thanks Golf_GL for the actual settings, I just search and found all 4 and set them as you screenshot as all were set to other things. I will report back to BimmerGeeks as it is super weird everyone else seems to see the Popular choices that I don't on this module, but at least I think I am all set now. Rob

Bimmergeeks got back to me and my cafd files are different it seems so they don't have the popular option but looks like they will add it as it seems to be the same settings as for other versions.

I also coded a couple more settings, I live in the country and have a long laneway and the high beams would shut off when I slow down and not come back on in my laneway, some like in town type setting to not blind all your neighbors I think when pulling into your neighborhood. Seems the default settings are 40kph to shutoff the hight beams and 28 kph to turn them back on or there about
If you search these 2 settings in KAFAS, they start with something like H_CLA_ but they will be the only 2 you find and you can adjust at what speed auto high beams turn off and turn on when moving again. It is KPH so you need to convert from MPH and you need to then convert to Hex from decimal to enter the setting. SPEED_SWITCHING_HIGH_BEAMS_ON SPEED_SWITCHING_HIGH_BEAMS_OFF

Anywho: I'm thinking about getting rid of the 2017 540i due to the lane-keep not being good enough. I don't need it to be perfect, but I drive 3k miles a month and need it to at least inform me when it's not lane-centering. It was a great cost-benefit to have a great cash car, but I think I'm tech spoiled. Sell me on keeping it: what can I do with the interior LED? I love the ambient lighting in this 2017. I've missed "luxury" interiors as the Teslas spartan nature is not appealing once you've had any BMW or Mercedes within the past 10 years, lol. |

The G80 coding is specific to the 3 series ride heigh... so you will blind everyone and get flashed all the time. You might not care, but it does defeat the whole point of the feature.

Finally got around re-coding everything after the dealer reflashed me to deal with a botched 11.2023 upgrade that bricked my amp and ram. Dealer flashed me to 03.2024.19.
I cant get VLD/Anti-dazzle to stick. I go thru the motions of modifying the VO, removing 5AP and 8S4 (I never showed the latter), then running the anti-dazzle step 1 step. It says it flashes, saves config and clears errors, but the status of the option keeps saying disabled. I emailed protool so hopefully they'll reply back sometime this year. I have found it very frustrating to deal with them lately. |

I ran into an error too on one of the BDC CAFD's. Protool had to update the software on their end since I was on a new iLevel version. That never ended up getting my anti dazzle and vld working though. I probably have 65 emails back and forth with them and ZERO resolution. I ended up going back to Steve Ma at Code My Bimmer. He fixed it within 15 mins.

Yes, the optimization or whatever its called. Also did VLD. Also, forgot to mention yesterday, I re-ran the step 1 twice in a row after and the second time it ran as if nothing. Protool will tell you there are no changes and wont let you code/save. The fact that I can reproduce this tells me it really didnt code anything. |
