M5Rick wroteI think that 1969 song was the end for the Beach Boys as a "surf" band; the beginning was 1961's Surfin' which has a bit of doo-wop vibe to it.Always liked this one by the Beach Boys - Do It Again

M5Rick wroteLove that song, Rick! From about 1963 to 1965 or so, it seemed like all I listened to was the Beach Boys. I resented the Beatles at first because they took radio air time away from the Beach Boys. I very distinctly remember when I became a Beatles fan: May of 1965 at my high school senior prom (in the Philippines) and we hired a young band from Manila to play. They were excellent; when they played "I Don't Want to Spoil the Party" by the Beatles, I was hooked! But I certainly did not lose my love for the Beach Boys -- in fact, a few years ago I bought all the individual Beach Boys albums on CD and I've also owned all the Beatles albums on CD for many years.Whenever I hear the BB's I associate them with surfing, here's another well grooved track I like, Surfin' USA
I think I've shown in this thread my broad musical tastes, but the Beach Boys and the Beatles are still the bedrock!

Here's a 1965 number from the Beach Boys -- Salt Lake City
This was about the end of their surf music era until 1969, when they released Do It Again

Llarry wroteFor me it's always been The Beatles. I like lots of music but they have always been my favorite band....I think I've shown in this thread my broad musical tastes, but the Beach Boys and the Beatles are still the bedrock!
Here's some early covers that I think they do best:
Slow Down
Roll Over Beethoven
Rock And Roll Music
