Hi folks, new owner of a X4M40i 2021 and starting to look for a winter set of wheels/tires/tpms. I’m a novice and I'm so lost with bolt patterns and all that stuff. I’ve read some posts here and I'm wondering if anybody can share rims they bought in Canada and that fits well and didn’t cause any issues in the long run. Thanks very much !

Do yourself a favour and reach out to Wheelwiz. If you can ask for Blake. Superb customer service and knowledge, great prices and will beat other quotes. Couldn't recommend them more. I went with RTX Munich's in the end. 19"x8.5" with a 32 offset. They're hubcentric so no need for a hub ring. I had two Toyo GSI5 Observe tires from my X5 so got another two. Now have a square set up all round (255/50/19). They're compliant and grip great in the snow. Wheelwiz even sourced the two new ones with a manufactured date within a few weeks of my existing pair! They also supplied TPMS which I think are Max Sensors from memory. Let me know if you need any other info. |

Yes I got four rims, four TPMS sensors, and the two tires through Blake. I had them on my car all last winter, zero issues. I've actually only done 2,315kms in a year due to working from home, probably did less than 500kms all winter - sacrilegious really! Because of that I'm contemplating selling my car. I'd be happy to sell you my winter set - it's basically new! Tires have max tread on them. Let me know if you're interested. |

Sure yes that could be interesting- did you get the installation done by a bmw dealership or 3rd party?
I’ll check this week for quotes for brand new ones and then we can discuss?! Do you know if the BMW wheels cap fits on yours btw ? |

Cool - let me know once you've had a look around, am quite certain whatever price we agree on will be superior to buying brand new, and these are basically brand new 👍🏼 |

settings to use in snow
First bmw. Any specific setting to use in a 2022 x3 m40i for snow? I read somewhere to turn off DSC. Anyone have any experience they want to share?
I read that the 2022 m40i is even more rear will drive biased than previous years. I grew up on rear wheel drive cars, so not a problem for me. However, my wife doesn't like when the rear end starts to slide a bit before front end kicking in. Had this problem with an older infinity qx50, so she got rid of it. We have the 19" wheels with all-season tires. Thanks |

Yeah the dealers around here money grab as much as they can. That said all dealers charge premiums for stuff you can get cheaper via third parties. I got some reasonable quotes to sell but still shy by about $2-3k for what I want and could likely get privately. Still contemplating what I will do in the long run. Enjoy your new wheels - share pics when they're installed! |

I've just seen on FB people mentioning the star marker on tyres re BMW approved.
I got a set of winters on BMW 20" wheels ... but no star marker on the tyres ? They are the correct size and def BMW genuine alloys ... but I was unaware of the star marker. Imported from Germany as genuine ... but not from BMW themselves. Anyone have knowledge of this being an issue? All 4 tyres are the same size, i.e not staggered like summer tyres. They are non RFT Pirelli Scorpion Winters which are, according to Pirelli, for high end 4x4's. I used them last winter without any issues, in fact, they are smoother than my standard 'summer' 21 inch RFT's. Last edited by SO8; 12-03-2021 at 09:39 AM.. |

That being said, none of the dealerships I've ever been to have ever given me any grief for not using star tires.

Their ones for 20" were Sottozero and were £391 each tyre !! *and didn't have a star ... he said he was sure so long as reputable make i.e. Pirelli, then as none on their system they can't be critical. Maybe less availability in the UK for winter tyres ? |

I hate how winter wheel/tire setups are typically compromises, on previous cars they all have been for me. This time I decided to get something slightly nicer, while still a compromise, as I didnt want to spend a fortune on winter wheels, I think the OEM looks of this setup turned out great. To me, it looks like something that could come on an M car.

Sure, I apologize for the filthy car. As stated above, mine are the 20x8.5 +28, the +35 would push the wheels further inboard. I also included diagrams of how this fitment compares to the stock 20's (20x8 +27, 20x9.5 +43). Hope this helps.
