Got my winter tire setup installed. Went 19" square setup with 15mm spacers. Also went with larger 29.1" tires which will help with potholes. Definitely notice the difference between stock 21" setup but can live with it for winter and will make the summers that much more fun. Lol.

Snow tires:
Blizzak DM - V2 255/50/r19 square set up
RTX Graz wheels 19x18.5 +35
BMS 15mm spacers front and back

Center cap issue?

Greetings. I know this is an old post, but I'm considering an aftermarket rim for my BMW and noticed your setup here while researching; they look great. Did you have an issue with your BMW center cap fitting? I'm being told the center cap will not fit the wheels I'm looking at (the Flow One F1). Any input you can provide would be appreciated.

Do you need to do alignment when switching summer/winter setups?

I have 21" staggered stock setup.

Great thread and thanks for all the pics - very informative.

Purchasing a square setup of Braelin BR10's spec'ed 19x8.5, ET25 and HB of 66.6. Going to be wrapping them in either 245/50/19 or 235/55/19 (both nrf).

Question for the group - with the change in offset from OEM, are you required to use aftermarket wheel bolts or are most of you recycling your OEM ones?

Thanks!

Stock bolts work fine.

Well, I've bought a 20" winter wheel set nice and early in the UK ... Cost ££££ and now guarantees a series of even milder winters than we've had of late

Can't speak for elsewhere in the world but, based on my past buying experience, the UK is now safe from snow !

Was certainly mild last winter, but plenty the year before. Reckon we are due. I have my winter set ready to go on probably Nov time, but will fit based on temps

Needless to say I went to an independent and wound up with Ara wheels (20x8.5" with a 30mm offset all around) and 245/45/20 pirelli scorpions. Including center caps and new tpms I was in for an even $3000.

The stealership just stops making sense at some point.... even in bargain Canadian dollars.

Hey where in Vancouver did you buy them? I am looking for a set too and quite like yours.

Hey new owner here. Seriously considering a pair of Hakka R3s as I had that on my S4 and it was insanely good. I'm guessing the 245/50/19 XL setup works well? I've got the stock 19s that I'm on the fence about buying rims for (my preference is to get separate rims).

What do you guys do for a spare or just go by chance? From my research there's not much room for a donut?

I'd prefer the hakkas to the Sottozero RFT for both performance and price but don't entirely like the idea of going on long trips with no backup?

Winter set up/Summer replacement?

I at first refused to even look at 21” fitted M40’s because of the crap tire selections.

But one has come up literally 5 minutes from my house and has the options I want. And I know if you play with the size, you can get a little more options.

So, my ?’s.

I like the set up Pardus has, Snow tires:
Blizzak DM - V2 255/50/r19 square set up
RTX Graz wheels 19x18.5 +35
BMS 15mm spacers front and back.

Tire rack doesn’t carry the RTX wheels, so the Bremmers I liked. But they are 32mm spaced. I like his tire choice, can’t imagine the 3mm would matter, does it?

And for summer, Front-255 40 21, Rear-265 40 21, does that fit the stock rims with no issue? Or rubbing anything etc.

Thanks for any help, really wish they’d have not picked 21’s, and staggered. Look the best, but man, choices and price. I’d prefer one with the 20’s, but beings it’s by my house, I gotta look at it.

Will GTS 509 19"x8 +32 offset wheels with 235/55/19 winter scorpions square setup work fine or is it too much tire height?

My summers are staggered 245/40/21 275/40/21

Thanks!

235 55 19s are perfect Most 19 inch aftermarket bmw rep wheels are 8.5 inches in width. Ideal square setup.

I went with 18 inch replica bmw rims with Sailun Ice Blazer WST1 255 55 rubber. I know these are cheap tires, but reviews have been good and so far they work really well on snow and ice.

$2300 installed price from Fountain Tire. That also includes TPMS sensors.

Thanks to everyone here for sharing + inspiration. I ended up going for 255/50 R19 Toyo Observe GSI-5 (non-rft) square setup on 19" x 8.5" wide RTX Munich rims. Think offset is 32mm. I have the OEM 21s so didn't want to go lower than 20" but winters are full on in Montreal, so handling > looks for roughly 5 months.

Considered the Braelin BR-10s, RTX Graz which a few people have done and look good, and some TSWs. Having just bought the car I didn't go OTT for winters, it's salt central up here too. Had two tires from my X5 winter set up, practically new from last season so just sourced two more hence not going 235 or 245.

Not sure if can name drop the supplier as reasonably new to the forum but they beat the best prices I could find online for rims, tires and sensors, superb customer service too. Had some issues with the Max Sensors, now they've recoded the frequency - working perfectly now. Private message if you want to know who they are, they ship across Canada.

Just put on the Winters from last year. Continental Viking Contact 7's on TSW rims packaged @ $2400. Very happy with 'em

Thanks to this thread. I ended up going with Pirelli Winter Ice Zero FR 235/55R19 square setup on matte black rims 19x8.5. The ride so far so good, definitely not as firm as the summer 21s.

694's with Scorpions

My inexpensive square winter setup. Scorpion Winters on 694's with 15mm spacers. The ride, noise, and performance is surprisingly good for a winter tire. I had the older version Scorpions on my E53 X5 and liked them enough to buy them again. Tested them at 29F on icy roads, 50F in the rain, and on the interstate at 75mph. All good. I'm looking forward to trying deep snow later in Dec. It took 2 minutes and 2 miles to reset the TPMS. Time to clean and ceramic the 21's while they're off.

OEM 694's 19x7.5" +32 $951 Autorimshop ebay
Pirelli Scorpion Winters 235/55/19 $703 TireRack
TPMS and caps $150, used
Mount and balance $70

A very nice snow set-up you have there I've had a couple of sets of Scorpion Winters on E70 30 and X5M; they are a very good tire. I have 12mm spacers on my stock 7.5x19 winter wheels, and that seems about right to me. Same size rubber 235/55 - 19... but are Nokians this time.
235/55's are the perfect size winter tire for the G01/G02

You got out for well under $2K, excellent!

Putting it to use already with the snows on

19x8 et35 moda md27 with pirelli sottozero 245/50/19. Most likely ordering 15mm spacers from IND to fix the stance a little and those will be used in the summer with the 699s as well.
