It's what you sent.
@April1 1. Try to use Expert Mode on left pane with Code button selected I did... I just went back in to show the save icon greyed out still. 2. Why "Werte" is showing 00 whereas Values from ECU shows 01, didnt you save first on the right corner? I was changing that value but ain't able to save the value...

I was in contact with April1 offline and E-Sys is now working on my win8 laptop. I did reinstall the software after enabling .net 3.5.1 which seems to have done the trick (this is after several installs/uninstalls and tweaking).
One other thing I did was, I left the default data location post software installation then set the token location under the EST tab.

windows 7 on vmware
So, I just received my cable and flash drive from April 1 (overnight delivery a huge plus). Quick question, I have a work computer that is a windows desktop but want to run on my apple macbook with vmware. I've read in a few places that some of the software may or may not work with the 64bit version of windows 7. That said it isn't clear if it is esys or some other piece of software that won't work. Does anyone know if I need to get the 32 bit version or can i use the 64? Don't want to get the less efficient version if i can avoid it. Thanks!

From a performance standpoint, is it significant whether running e.g. XP/32, Win7/32, Win7/64, Win8? Does it really make much difference in time to update the car's parameters? I was thinking of using an old laptop with XP/SP3 but if it would be so much faster with Win7/64, I would try that instead.

Make sure that there is a "Dist" folder in each of the Chassis (F01/F10/F25) folders etc.: e.g. "C:\ESysData\psdzdata\mainseries\F010\F010_12_03_5 1 1\odx\dist" It should be empty, but the folder must exist:

I need to code previously backed up FDL, how to do it correctly?
Connect > Read VO > Read SVT > Read coding data (from the required ECU) > then overwrite CAF file in ESYS CAF folder with originally backed up file > Activate FA > Code FDL? |

Connect => Read FA => Activate FA => Read SVT (VCM) => Read ECU Coding Data => Expand Folder => Right-Click CAFD File => Select New FDL => Navigate to C:\ESysData\CAF and select matching .NCD file => Left-Click on Inserted CAFD => Select FDL Code. It is easier though to just VO Code the module to reset it: Connect => Read FA => Activate FA => Read SVT (VCM) => Right-Click on ECU (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

Yes, but they can be easily recoded.

Strangly, but option "New > FDL" is grayed out... FA is activated though...
While coding the VO FDL defaults I need to select, f.e. HU_CIC and right click on it and select "CODE" not the green marked CAFD? BTW when I change the VO and do "Write FA FP" it automatically writes new VO to CAS and ZGW or I need manually "CODE" ZGW and CAS so that new VO list would be written to them? |

You can modify the VO and Save it, Activate it, and VO Code with it, without writing it to the car (CAS & ZGW), so write Write FA FP is not necessary.

When CAFD has green mark (e.g. the button "read coding data" was not pressed), then clicking right button and selecting NEW > FDL is possible. But if the CAFD has folder icon (e.g. the button "read coding data" was pressed), then the NEW>FDL is grayed out.
But if I want some options to survive future dealer's software update, then what should I do to write VO to CAS and ZGW? |

Then it would be just Write FA FP to write VO to the car. I don't know though how ISTA/P would react though if the VO written was invalid in some way (e.g. Adding 6VC to a VO with a Production Date < 1010).

I dont want to brick any ECU, so please clear this thing... Do I really need to click "Read ECU Coding Data"? After that it is impossible to click "New > FDL"
