I'm slowly giving up

I think had the G02 M40i debuted with the #710 wheel, we would have more hope for the wheel to be released here in the States, but the US ordering is still blocked. Germany has 30 in stock (which was in reference to the ETA date), but we can't order from here b/c US ordering is blocked. Even if we could order, the airbag part # has yet to be activated.

Ultimately, I'm thinking this wheel is going to be designated for the X3/4M and that's why there is even a US part #.

Still doing my due diligence and test-driving the competition (going to try out the SQ5 and F-Pace S tomorrow), but I had hoped it would make an appearance before I ordered. Disappointing, but not going to spoil the vehicle for me.

If I had time to wait for the 2019 SOP I might just to see if it happened, but kid #2 is now a month out, and as amusing as it has been wrangling one car seat in the M235i, two is where I draw the line!

Would two seats even fit in the M235i?
However, if you could wait, you should. Not for the stupid steering wheel debacle, but to order the differential

We made it work with the infant click-in/out car seat, but it wasn't ideal, and it has to be on the passenger side, otherwise my knees are into the dash.

The bigger toddler convertible seat is a monster and reduces the 2er to a one person, one kid vehicle, so it lives in my wife's crewcab F250 now.

We managed with just the one kid and trading vehicles, but it certainly hasn't been ideal. With #2 arriving shortly, I think I've held out about as long as I could living the coupe life. Maybe when they're out of carseats (or at least into the booster seat phase, since it seems now kids have to be in some variety of car seat right up until they get their license) I can move back to something smaller.

Looking forward to what you think of the F-Pace S.

I'll let you know. Consensus seems to be the Jag is tops in the "fun to drive" department, even if its performance numbers aren't quite competitive on paper with the M40i or GLC 43. I'm moderately gun-shy about build quality and reliability, and I've heard some horror stories from the first MY examples. At least they have a good warranty to go with it!

The warranty is pointless depending on the quality of your JLR dealer and their willingness to address issues competently the first time. My experience was with 2 Jag F-Type Coupe R--2016 and 2017.

If I may drag this thread off track for just a minute, how was you experience in that regard? I've been wandering through the Jag & F-Pace forums today, and honestly what I've read is pretty disheartening. To be fair, most complaints I see were from early adopters, but the 2018s don't seem to be completely cured. There's a 42 page "would you buy it again" thread with an awful lot of 'nope's.

Wouldn't touch a JLR product with a 10 foot pole....just make sure your dealer has a good loaner fleet.

UK Here - how can I check? My order has no mention of steering wheel except heated steering wheel. When I go on the UK configuration it has M sport steering whee pre selected when I choose all the packs I went for.

Build week is w/b 14th may. Any tips appreciated

Yep Jag and LR will leave you high and dry. I have never had issues with Merc or Audi which is the 2 manufacturers I have always stuck with. This is my first BMW but so far I really like it.

I had F-Types, not an F-Pace, so I can't comment on the F-Pace ownership experience. If you search here, there was a guy with an F-Pace that JLR bought back and now he's in an X3.

You’d have to check your build sheet from your dealer to be 100%.

I checked that and it doesn't mention it at all. The print out from the BMW build configurator website does list it tho. Interesting

Truth be told, that photo they show in the video was one of their stock photos - you can't tell what wheel is in the actual display model. They were showcasing the M-Sport steering wheel in all the initial unveils in the US. That said, they'll probably get the M-Sport steering wheel. I think it's pretty well known now that this is only affecting US/Canada.

To top it off, that one in the video will not be produced in the US.

Hi there... UK too

My M40i is due to land at the dealer on May 10th (ordered early March).

My order config states M steering wheel and I got my VIN last week so I’ve put it through a decoder and that also confirms the build has the M wheel...

I only hope it actually arrives with the wheel now.

Build commenced 2nd April

No M differential, which is a shame, but not the end of the world. I wonder why they decided to add it... performance issues?

Yep, that would be me.

If anyone has any questions on the F-Pace S experience, feel free to PM me.

Saw in the product info for the M Sport Steering Wheel that it does not work with Driving Assistant Plus

I wonder if that was why it was not an option for us in the US.

Those with the M Sport Steering Wheel, do you have DA+ as well?

The leather M Sport Steering wheel (like the one in the US G30 5 series) does work with DA+ and steering wheel heating. There were a few photos of it in the Euro/international model X3s.

However, the M Performance steering wheel you've linked with the Alcantara and the red stripe doesn't work with DA+ and is not heated, which is a huge shame since US X3s don't even have the regular M Sport wheel.
