Just another update, noticed the day after collecting my car in better light that the seal they replaced isn't seated correctly and has lifted up. Taking it back to the dealership.

Another issue is that the vehicle won't start in edrive mode anymore, it forces itself from electric individual to hybrid then starts the engine. No warnings displayed apart from the energy screen showing "Engine running: required by system". I'm guessing the 12v aux battery has somehow been damaged whilst it sat in the dealership for 2 months, and despite driving over 140 miles when I collected it can't have recharged, there must be something wrong with it.

Test drive booked for the Lexus NX when I get back from holiday as I'm not happy keeping a car as unreliable as this has been.

Really poor service and lack of QA on the dealers part, particularly given how long they had your car.

Unfortunately, there always an element of luck with any car, but hope your luck is better with the NX.

The NX is quite the diametrical choice regarding the driving experience. A family member had and disposed of one rapidly due to boredom. Drive the Genesis GV70 first and you may never get to the Lexus showroom.

Yeah, I expect that, but I didn't buy the X3 for its driving dynamics
I'd be happy with anything that's reliable, comfy and has some power.

Yep, I want a PHEV. Don't want full EV or go back to petrol/diesel.

With those as reasons for buying, BMW wasn’t a great fit to begin with. You should enjoy Lexus or Toyota much more.

The X3 with lumbar support, standard suspension, 19" alloys and non-runflats is perfectly comfortable. When you start having runflats, big alloys and sports suspension is becomes unbearable on UK roads. I have a long term issue with my back, the X3 has been fine. The issue is BMW UK policy limits the rental they're willing to pay, so an X3 would not be available for a rental in the event you need a car whilst the X3 is in for warranty work. I've had to live with a 330e touring with runflats for the best part of 5 weeks, which has been awful on my back.

All quite true and understandable. Based on your top three reasons noted earlier, I would just have recommended a different brand from the start. When I hear "comfort/reliability" as top motivating reasons among premium brands, I think Lexus, not BMW/MB as a "best" fit. Others trade-off those reasons with performance aspects and the German brands (and increasingly Genesis) are more suited to those buyers.

I have 21” run flats, and I also have a long term back issue. I have no problem at all on UK roads, even in sport suspension mode.

All I can say is for my back condition the 330e touring with 19" runflats with adaptive suspension in comfort mode has an awful ride quality compared to my X3. I'm glad you find yours comfortable.

Genuinely, I don’t have any issues with the ride quality, and I’m consulting a neurosurgeon for my back.

In fact, I regularly drive 300+ miles to our place in Cornwall, and I feel more relaxed and comfortable at the end or the journey in the M40, than a softer riding car on smaller non RFT tyres.

I'm not a doctor but I somehow suspect you each may have a different back condition.

Lol it’s hurts like a bitch when your lumbar discs degenerate and put pressure on your spinal cord. Give it a try

Ouch. Now Peugeot or Citroen come to mind first! French = soft.
