Appreciate it. I’m going to see what happens. I pulled into my garage and then the auto headlamps kicked on and the A showed again. In swear it would always show even when my lights weren’t on (you know how the sky is today) so was shocked they didn’t kick on earlier. Maybe I’m just misremembering but the fact that it threw a warning and then seemed different threw me off.

My automatic headlight symbol will only show when the headlights are on. But my car was shipped with 07/2022 I-level at delivery so maybe the automatic headlight symbol was on all the time in 03/2022 I-level

My 2nd hand experience comes in from being active on the B58 forums which actually do focus on performance VS what all season floor mats to get in the X3 side. I get that my 2nd example is pretty baseless but hear me out. There are I counted at least 1 dozen of individuals that had their DMEs locked out VIA OTA updates or even a brake "recall" that required a dealer visit. B58 owners stated that a brake recall should calibrate brake units and not relock to DME back. But basically thats all I baselessly got.
I think this is the brake recall you mentioned: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/202...1V598-2797.pdf

The issue was with the vacuum pump, which in B46 and B58 engines is integrated with the engine oil pump. The vacuum pump provides vacuum so that brake booster would work when you apply brake. Due to incorrect parameters set in the earlier DME softwares, the vacuum pump can fail and result in a loss of brake boost assistance. So BMW decided to issue a recall to correct the parameters for vacuum pump. In order to correct these parameters, a DME reflash is in order. As a result, the previously unlocked DME is wiped out. But this brake recall was not intended to lock DME as "BMW noticed a lot of cars having their G Force parameters out of OEM spec".

No issues here. Just got my update notice today, it takes long time to send to the car. You’ll want to go for a long, long drive and it was at 0% for a bit before it started. Be patient.

Had to re-code all my BimmerCode settings again. Wish I had bought an enet cable and not BT.

I do not see the available software on the app. Are you guys doing anything special?

No, I think it’s just a staggered release.

I can't say I really felt anything from the update but I do notice a bit better low-end torque...

I just got prompted this morning for mine. Downloaded it to the phone and then to the car.

Does this mean I need to have the stealer update the car? Is it covered under warranty?

If you already updated your car via RSU, why do you need to go to the dealer? I'm not sure I understood your queation... Did you mean you want the latest software available to your car? The RSU is always one step behind what's available at the dealership level. For instance, the current RSU is pushing out S15A-22-07-580. Here 22 is referring to the year of 2022, 07 is referring to the month of July, and 5xx is referring to the minor software version for the July update. In any given calendar year, there are 3 major updates, March, July, and November. So RSU is rolling out the July update but dealer already have the November update (S15A-22-11-540 I believe). BMW doesn't want to roll out the latest major update because there maybe bugs in it. So they will keep tweaking the minor updates (the 5xx number) until they are satisfied.

The truck just finished updating and now getting the auto headlamp error like someone else mentioned earlier in this post.

My reasoning was take it to the dealer to have them upgrade to the latest, which according to the post above, S15A-22-11-530 (11/2022.30) is newer than the update I just got (S15A-22-07-580).

Am I understanding this correctly, or am I too drunk now?

Haven’t been notified of an update yet. I’d be curious to see what they’ve changed.

Oh yes, the latest software is 11/2022.40 (S15A-22-11-540). If RSU is giving you problems, it should be covered by warranty. Sometime the RSU will cause the car not starting up entirely and some BMW dealers will send out tech to your car to fix the issue for you. Usually the fix is to update the I-level using ISTA, which is the BMW diagnostic software.

Thank you for the explanation, appreciate it. Fortunately I can start the car but idrive is certainly not happy.

On another note? Is it just me or does the steering in comfort feel just a tad stiffer? (I like it.)

No offense... But I saw the heated debate in this thread about dealer invalidate warranty and like to offer some opinion. If your car is still under warranty, you are the cash cow to dealer. Easy money since any repair BMW will most likely pay. They will not invalidate your warranty unless there is no option. Like if you tune your I4 to 400hp and wrack the engine. Dealer cannot get reimbursement from BMW for the repair work, etc. They have to write their report to explain. It is against dealers financial interest to report you unless they have to....

Yea I agree with your reasoning but sometimes voiding the engine warranty is not at the dealer's discretion. Since Nov 2021, BMW updated ISTA so that whenever the car is connected to ISTA, it checks whether the DME is altered (see SIB 00 04 21.pdf). If it is altered, ISTA will flag the car with service code S0777 and that detail (in .behdat and .fstdat files) will be uploaded to the BMW server automatically. Regardless of whether the technician creates a TSARA case as per the SIB or not, the car is already flagged. So next time you need an engine-related repair, the TC clearing likely won't go through meaning BMW won't cover the repair.

FYI, payouts from warranty repairs are the worst. Like many car manufacturers, BMW establishes a Flat Rate Unit (FRU) for all possible repair tasks on their cars, and these FRUs are often far lower than the actual time spent on diagnosing and repairing the car. If it's an out-of-warranty repair, then the dealer will usually let the technician write up the labor time, which means they can charge however much they want.
