Lol it must be true if an SA says so.

Like others have said, get it in writing and even ask for a compensation amount if in future BMW suddenly say it’s not possible.

Ya, NFW that they'll retrofit a part like that.

No need. We get a $100 deduction from the sticker price. That's our "compensation".

From what info I have gathered over past couple days, yes the feature is still deleted as of right now. There are couple sensors in the back of the car that read foot motion which BMW has not been able to source due to chip shortage. If the car comes with fake/placeholder sensors wired up, dealerships will be able to retrofit the real sensors and enable the feature, but there is currently no reports that placeholders are being wired into the X3 right now.

If that’s the case I didn’t see a credit on my order for ‘23. Is this something I need to pursue? I’m scheduled for build week 36.

I did not receive a credit even though this functionality was deleted from my recently delivered '23 M8.

Do you not see 32X option code on your Vehicle Inquire Report? If you do not see this, then maybe your build still has this feature somehow

I can assure you July builds have the 32X deletion as well

I have already got the main parts, 1x Module and 2x Antennas just need to get 1x acoustic sensor for the close warning.

But what is really annoying even though this is supposed to be a temporary delete, from the reports I have had so far it looks like BMW have modified the wiring harness and removed the signal cable from the BCM and the 3 pin plug that supplies power and signal to the module, Now That is just Dumb!!!!!

Why could they not just fit a blank in the plug instead of making a new wiring harness and leave it alone so the retrofit could be done without having to run a cable all the way to the front of the car.

Does anyone else have any info on the G01 or any other model for that matter to say if the plug and cables are still there or not as the info I got was from a F98 LCI?

My car has been rejected, as it was shit when it was delivered with major paint and body defects and although I have gained wireless charging I've lost what I consider a useful feature.

So my new replacement X3 M40 arrived today and to my surprise all the hardware for the smart tailgate opener is fitted to my car!
The two antennas, wiring and the module there is no functionality in the Idrive and it obviously doesn't work! :

Now in my mind this simply needs coding can anyone offer any advice?

I wonder if the function will appear on a software update ?

The module is located behind the diffuser on the rear bumper right hand side you can just see it through the tow bar pocket the antennas just run horizontal across the center of the diffuser. If you remove the bolts allong the bottom edge of the diffuser it makes it much easier to see

So what's missing to make it work ?

Curious why BMW would install all of this and then not provide the functionality. Very odd.

The reason I believe is when the vehicle is ordered the chassis codes are set in stone, if the hardware becomes available then they fit them out all the same regardless it's less hassle to production to just fit all the same components. I personally just think it needs the 32X delete coding out and the 322 code replacing. I'm happy to take advice on this?
BMW technical have said they won't issue a vehicle order variation at this time so my dealer cannot update it I am wondering if it may come with a software update at a later time ?
Only issue if I have it coded by a 3rd party is will it revert back if I receive a over the air update?

Risk worth willing to take isn’t it? Depends how much it costs to get it coded I suppose, even if this indeed will make it work.

Could I ask - that module above. I looked under the car at the back but all I can see is exhaust and other metal bits. There is a cover towards the bumper that seems to be attached by a series of bolt like rivets. These don't look like they have a hex head so

(a) is that what one needs to remove to see the module (if it exists)?
(b) if so how does one removed, pry them off or a special tool?

Thanks
