My guess is that the 'Recall' is information only (hence INFOXXXXXXX) to ensure the technicians do NOT apply software updates 21-07-5xx or higher to pre-LCI vehicles, or downgrade them if they have. As potentially a safety issue listing it as a recall is probably the only way to ensure technicians take notice.
Does seem to be the death knell for the pre-LCI iX3s though, not only is pre-conditioning not coming it seems we'll no longer get software updates either. |

Or they are banking on the fact that it's winter in Europe and battery overheating will not be an issue until the summer by which time they will have released a proper fix.

Software updates would be provided to correct faults and for safety issues. But there is no reason for them to provide any other software updates. The vehicle will continue to function as it does now. |

I guess the fact that other manufacturers are releasing regular software updates which not only provide bug fixes but add features, improve performance, range amongst other benefits over many years more akin to a phone/iPhone methodology would be one reason to consider. |

Dealer recons that the march update will include fixes for stuff that was broken with some of the updates. To be fair (touch wood) not seen any of the 'bugs' even after updating to 07/2021.08
So will stick with what I have until a new stable release is out. |
