I've been a BMW fan/enthusiast since day one. Basically I was born into it. But the passed couple of years that love that I've had is beginning to fade. They're making tooo many models it's rediculous. They are for more concerned about profits (which at the end of they day the should be) than their slogan of the 'ultimate driving machine'. I don't know anymore... I'm not hating but it's tough to love now

Why? X1 is exactly what I need. I mean, perfect! Especialy for my wife who loves it.
I like very much X6, if X4 will be as muscular as that one but smaller, it will be excellent for lots of customers.
Choosing cars from a size stand point, the X1 and X4 seems redundant. But I guess I can't really tell the size from the pictures, I thought it was X1 size but now I'm guessing it's more X3ish...

X4 needs a better interior than X3 and a new 3.0l petrol engine!
I don't see the sense of a performance diesel engine in US

Kia has Peter shreyer - best designer in the industry. He came from Audi. Get your facts lined up , then dial up to the internet.

Diesel is so expensive in many states. Not to mention price if diesel cars is significantly higher. Finally add the expensive blue stuff you have to put into the car. Add all up and realize you better stay with petrol

Why not a 4.4l as well? It does irritate me that BMW artificially restrict the engine sizes available in the lower series cars. Why not make the full range available (perhaps in slightly lower tune) and charge appropriately. I know there are good reasons why they don't but they managed to do it with the 335d and the 640d.

If a car looks and is pointless isn't it a kind of ugly?

Will you explain why having more model offerings makes you like BMW less?

Diesel Comparison

Looking at all the photo's it looks good to me. Petrol 50i 4.4L V8 Twin Turbo - 330kw/650nm - 0/100km's, 5.0 Sec's - 10.5L per 100km's.
Diesel M50d 6Cyl. Triple stage turbo - 280kw/740nm - 0/100km's, 5.3 Sec's - 6.7L per 100km's - 50kw's less power but nearly 100 more nm's of torque than V8 and big difference in fuel consumption. Who knows what Motors they will have? Usually the States have the bigger Petrols and Australia get Diesels BUT not the Top of The Range Diesel Motor. It's a shame about Diesels and the U.S.A. I read somewhere diesel fuel isn't good quality. True or False?

Unfortunately, based on the few pix out there, I believe the X4 interior is going to mimic my F'25
Exactly this. Why do I have to buy nearly 5m long BMW for a top quality interior? I was excited for an X4 but currently have a reservation deposit down in the Macan. X3 facia doesn't do it for me.

Same here, I was waiting for x4 for a long time. But after LA autoshow visiting, I think think the x4 is inferior to macan in every aspects, except for the BMW maintain programs. Next week, I am going to visit porsche dealer for a possible a Macan pre ordered.

I dont think its pointless if it sits in a price range that suits those who cant afford the X6 but love its styling. A modestly optioned X6 gets to around 70k while this one might be had for 15-20K less. Although we know the X6 has more "premium" features, options, and interior fittings. Some may be able to live without that for the looks and price alone. And the need for a real Xdrive designed machine unlike the 3GT and alike. Time will tell, I will be watching close as I still cannot get used to my 3 Series after having trucks for the last 6 years.
