Apparently on these cars the rear pads and rotors often wear before the fronts because of the interventionist systems like ACC, traction control, etc that tend to use the rear brakes more than the front...

Not true for my X5. It has over 61k miles on it and I use the cruise as close to 100% of the time as I can on all road types. Currently have 7mm on the fronts and 8mm on the rear.
From what I have seen they apply the brakes just like as if you were pressing the brake pedal.
