If you decide to reject the car, the dealer and BMW UK should honor all elements of the original deal and offer some compensation for the delay.

Getting the wrong car complete defeats the purpose of a build--having said all that, if you like what you see, go for it and ask for a price reduction. Or maybe the dealer just keeps it for the next customer and you are back on the wait mode for the one you want.

Update:
Ok so we have agreed a compromise, as already highlighted in the thread although I placed a deposit on a black car ( stated on the order form etc...) to get the UK offer it has to be a stock vehicle delivered before December 31st. What turned up was Sophisto but as it was not a specific build to me I cannot get the deal carried over onto a new build car. Yes I could argue it out for longer but what are the chances and how long would it go on for? Presently there were/are 4 black vehicles left in the UK, only 2 have pan roof but wrong interior, but I have been offered these as an alternative. The Sophisto car does have a slightly higher spec but the deal has now been improved with a slight reduction in price, I’ve had a RIS and 1st Service included, rubber mats and a few bits of M merchandise as good will. Happy? Yes I guess so. All the issues & politics aside, yes Sophisto is a great colour, the Adelaide was a bit darker than expected but I would’ve had that with my BS car, it’s just door open the interior/exterior colours mix slightly, but then the roof was still covered in the protective film, it will look lighter with the roof blind open. A few photos attached, full photos will be posted on collection this weekend. I don’t want this to sound ungrateful or spoilt in anyway, the original intention for the thread was to get some thoughts on the spec and a favourable outcome. So, new car day this weekend. |

This comment "Happy? Yes I guess so." that means "hmmn it will do"
At the end of the day it is your choice and the good will gesture of all the extras would be appreciated and you can't fault the dealer for doing their best as a sweetener. IMO - I probably wouldn't be, if I had ordered a black car and got something else I'd be waiting for the black car. Lets hope I don't go to collect my car next week and it's Sophisto grey too |

If there is a better car (for you) in the network then I'd get that, I wouldn't be taking it unless you really liked it and are very happy.
Interesting how different sophisto looks on your photos compared to others where it's a very dark grey.

Apart from the colour, does the car have all the options you want? What's more important to you all the options or the colour?
I think the dealers have been fair with their offer of good will. It's a tough call but I think if you like the colour then keep it. I wanted my previous car in black however the dealer made me a great offer on what I wanted in blue. I compromised on the colour I wanted and I ended up liking it, possibly more than I would have like the black, who knows! |

I will say that the Adelaide on paper was my least favourite colour, but it came on my car so I decided to go with it. In the flesh I really like it - because it isn't really grey, it's more a taupe, a sort of warm grey/beige colour. It works really well with the Donington Grey exterior which is also a sort of warmed up version of silver/grey/titanium.
I looked at it as taking a different colour combo than my preferred on a car that was £22k discounted was hard to pass up. Before receiving my car I'd have preferred the Orange, followed by Tartufo, then Black, then Grey for interior. Now it's a toss up between the Grey and Orange and I suspect long term, Grey would win. I think the Adelaide probably works better with Sophisto than Black, and it'll be a nice looking car - worth taking if not your perfect colour? ...only you can decide, but it's a great discount! Good luck! |

They all have access to the same stock. The deal is a UK stock car purchased before the end of December. It's been running a month now so stock is drying up as they've been going fast. It's a £22k ish discount that doesn't apply to new orders, only stock.

Looks like one of those colours, like Estoril, Phytonic, and Donington that really changes depending on the light. My last car was Carbon Black which was awesome in strong sunlight, but just looked black otherwise.

Money wise you’ve just saved a grand which is a great result.
The choice to take the car was a tough one as there are hardly any cars left in this deal. Your choice was to compromise spec, which we’ve all done during this deal - I certainly did. As long as your happy with the colour combo all is good. Enjoy it.

The “paint booth” step is later in the process so I imagine you might be able to have them make a correction before it goes to that step. Mine is still in queue but has a vin and all the options listed for the build (12/13). |
