Sad. I can't understand why BMW still hasn't learned that plastic black crap bumpers don't belong on the X3. How much does it cost to paint them? And if notice one of the models has the silver grill, which means its one of the higher models, yet it still has the black plastic bumpers. And the tires look like they came off a Civic. Well that will probably change in the final model.

I am going to reserve judgement until the wraps come off, I am sure that the bumpers will be painted (at least partially) on the final product.
That Q5 is sexy though, especially with the diesel...when can I buy it here?

Are you guys referring to unpainted bumpers as "plastic?"
If so, yeah, thats what is offered on the lower-end (usually non-sport) models, sport models will most likely have color-matched bumpers, rocker panels, etc... Again, that Q5 is one hot mother f'er, the MB GLK isn't terrible looking either, both definately have great "attitude."

If it handles and drives like my '09, and has the electronics of an E90 LCI, it will be a very nice vehicle. After almost two years and nearly 40K miles my ONLY complaint with my '09 is the lack of 6FL. Even the look of it still moves me. Last edited by rs6655; 02-24-2010 at 07:00 AM.. |

It won't have the electronics of the E90, it will have the electronics of the upcoming 3-series.

What is the X car following the L5 series
There is a new X following the 5 series in this photo, it might be a new X3, check out the roofrails and mirrors.

More likely the LCI X5 w/ M Sport package
The trailing vehicle looks exactly like the LCI X5 with the M Sport body kit vs. anything else.

I currently drive the x3 2007 w/ sports pack. Went to check out the Q5 as a replacement and this is what I found: the Q5 to me at least looks good/ better than the x3 only if it has the s-line, if not the stock wheels are plain hideous. The sunroof of the Q5 doesn't have a ridgid inner panel that blocks the sun 100% like on the x3, it's got this soft mesh thing that's semi transparent. This has me worried about those hot and bright sunny days in the summer. The steering wheel, somehow on the Q5 it sits A LOT lower in relation to the dash vs the x3. Despite being bigger in numbers, it feels the same if not smaller than the x3 on the inside. And It drives and handles rather similar to the x3.....
But the $$$ was getting real close to the x5, so after one afternoon of weighing in, it's a no brainer to choose the 2011 x5 for only $100 more a month. Bigger & more lux. The Q5 only makes sense if you went with the base model. Add a few options and you are in x5 territory, it's gonna be a hard sell for Audi unfortunately. |

M4Mafia, I agree with you. The only Q5 to consider would be the one with the S-line, and I also was concerned about the sunroof (I am sure they will be smart enough to make it with the panel in future model years). The car's interior also feels much "snugger" (ie, smaller) than what it should, but I haven't test-driven it, so am not sure about the steering wheel height. Yes, with the S-line, the price starts getting in the mid/upper 40s, which is close to base price of 2011 X5, but, though I agree also that it may be worth invsting in the X5 instead, with trimmings it can easily get to mid/upper 50s.....Bottom line: Q5 S-line vs. 2011 X5 w/SAV packange or M-package - all about what one can afford...
