They are lightweight flow formed

Your car...your happiness...your choice...

What the rest of us think doesn't matter. Although posting it does invite all opinions to reply.

BUT....can't help but wonder, however, how and why you reached the point where you think this is a good idea? Did you see things like this as a kid?

Like I said, your money, your ride so as long as you achieved the look you were after, that's all that matters.

You don't need to justify your choices to anyone, especially me. I wonder why you didn't mod a regular X3 though as the performance features of the M40i are somewhat compromised by the wheel/tire combo. But again, you don't owe any explanation.

I've changed front struts on an X3 before. What part of the strut do you heat to bend a strut? The rod can't/shouldn't be bent. Only thing left is the lower mount which doesn't bend.

Minor heating a d bent to accommodate. Could have probably used a 10mm spacer.

I kind of like the wheels, but the issue really is now with the brakes. They look like the European style 316 models with 20 inch rims.

Is there a weight difference per wheel/tire? Less or more weight?

Definitely looks like something you'd see in my hometown (Oakland).

Seems like you're dead set on em so a couple things to make it better (IMO of course), spacers as they look a bit tucked or it could just be the angle at which the picture was taken and then blacking out all cerium.

As long as you're happy that's all that matters.

I appreciate you. I kind of like the cerium. Let's people know you paid for extra muscle. They are a bit tucked probably should have gotten spacers. When I changed the wheels I picked up both sets stock and these. Negligible weight difference. The stock wheels are cast and not flow formed. People are dead set on these Michelin Pilot sport 4s, and limit themselves to the applicable wheel size that will fit these tires. These Delinte ds8 have better dry and wet grip than the Pirelli cinturado runflats. If they made the pilot sport 4s in a 275/25/24 I would have gotten it.

Please dont say that the weight is negligible to a OEM BMW rim. Just because a company is using marketing terms "flow formed" does not automatically mean that they are light weight.

I dont know about any other members on this thread, but I personally actually loved BD wheels. And I wanted to have your back for trying something different, for what its worth. Because I was shopping for my first expensive luxury brand set of wheels on my first expensive luxury brand vehicle, Mercedes just a couple years back. And I wanted BD soo bad, and here you actually have them.

I was approached on the Mercedes forums for a sponsorship from BD by one of their reps since I was pretty much the only member there that actually said that these wheels look good. After talking with the customer service there which is non existent its like 2 guys they are brothers I think running the company. Im sure anyone can fact check this. I dont care enough to do so at this point.
These wheels are heavy, the finish is pretty cheaply made, after running through a few washes you get fine line very noticeable scratches.

So while others are being very generous by not telling you how they really feel about these wheel look on the M40i, you should check other threads, if you thing the members are being out of line here.

Just like others said if you like it cool, and you do this is why you did it.

Having first hand experience with the brand a few years back I can say that the 20" x 9" BD wheels weigh 36 LBS! How is that ever considered light weight I have no idea? Oh thats right FLOW FORMED.

So yes when I first saw your pics, I needed to cleanse my eyes because it looks like it belongs on a stage coach western chasing bank robbers. Again its your car do what you want to it or dont. But do not tell others that these wheels are "light weight" lol. Or do up to you.

You are dead wrong sir. BD are premium quality wheels on par with lexani and giovanna in terms of finishing. The only better luxury wheels would be Forgiato or other forged 3 piece wheels. You dont see me comment on your thread or even care about your measly 20x9 for that matter because I know my shit is better.

If you bent the strut rod, you will have binding inside the strut and the piston will not be able to move freely. You will have problems pretty soon down the road. The spacer would have been a better idea.

Your wheel choice might be better for you, but everyone here is entitled to their own opinion of styling and functionality for their own X3 or X4. You posted the picture, live with the replies.
